Dec 25, 2015 (Nyamilepedia) —- Merry Christmas to you all South Sudanese around the globe and in our beloved country. We hope that the year of 2016 will be the year of peace.

In Uganda, we have only one students’ body (South Sudanese Students’ Union in Uganda) which treats all South Sudanese students equally without any distinction. The essence of this body is to build social cohesion among the students, improve leadership skills and presentations and to support the vulnerable students.

The union offers equally opportunities to all those who have the will and industry to lead students. It’s in this context that the union always carries out elections annually. All the aspirants/contestants have to meet the basic requirements stipulated in the union’s constitution. It’s something known worldwide that electoral procedures/rules are paramount and every contestant must conform to the set rules.

  1. As the “former union’s President”, it’s significant to make some clarification on the false, unfounded, unethical allegations raised by Juma Keneth. The elections carried out on 15th December were free and fair. The embassy officials witnessed the elections and everybody was satisfied with the results. What transpired was the disqualification of some presidential aspirants (Malou Mathiang Makhoi, Deng Panchol and Mandela Marial Makuong). They were disqualified on academic backgrounds and the electoral committee did inform them as to why they were disqualified. The union’s constitution required the students’ leaders to lead by example by not having retakes especially the President. After their disqualification, some of them disagreed and denounced the supreme law governing our activities as union. So, as intellectuals, can we compromise law because of the individual’s interest? Who is above the law? It’s obvious in any elections that you can either win or fail and a person must accept his/her share. THEREFORE, THERE WAS NO UNFAIR ELECTIONS AS JUMA KENETH CLAIMED WITH HIS DISGRUNTLED GROUP.
  2. Juma Kenneth with his disgruntled group also claimed that there was corruption as I did not account for the amount of 65,000 USD. They have exaggerated some contribution of our officials for example the Vice president gave union 7,000 USD, NOT 55,000 USD, Thomas Duoth Guet gave union nothing, Hon. Akec Tong, Caretaker Governor of Warrap gave union 10,000 SSP NOT 35,000 SSP as Juma Keneth alleged, Lt. Gen. Akol Koor gave union $5,000 USD NOT $ 10,000 USD as he also alleged. Other people who have contributed include Hon. Stephen Dhieu 10,000 USD, Hon. David Deng Athorbei 7,000 USD, Hon. Akol Paul 4,000 USD, Adim Adim 1,000 USD and Madam Ayen Manyuon $ 1,000 USD. These funds have be declared to the students and vulnerable students were assisted including Juma Kenneth. He also alleged that, I have created non existing association in western Uganda. This is a HOT AIR our readers. We have Kampala International University (KIU) branch situated at Ishaka Bushenyi district. South Sudanese students doing Medicine are there, and their association was given 500,000 UGX by the union. He also alleged that, there was no student sponsored by the union. The union has sponsored a genius student through the office of the Minister in the office of the president Hon. Awan Guol. He is pursuing bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of surgery at Makerere University.
  3. He also alleged that there were some cases of bribery and intimidation during elections. These are just mere lies intended to cause disunity and create mistrust in the students’ fraternity.

WARNING TO THE PUBLIC! There is no student body called South Sudanese Students League in Uganda. Whoever claimed to be its leader must present to you a recommendation letter from the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Kampala_Uganda.

May God bless all of you.
