February 8, 2014 (SSNA) — The SPLM/SPLA Youth League (in opposition) wishes to add it’s undivided and unwavering support to the leadership of the SPLM/SPLA ( in Opposition) and applaud the courage of the leadership and congratulated them on the continued involvement of the youth and women in decision making of the movement.

The SPLM/SPLA YL (in opposition) Is proud to have been a principled and active participant in all the major turns in our National Liberation Struggle, that shall culminate in to an overall and complete changes in both political and governance structures of our nation. As we enter into the second round of negotiations, it must be a commitment from every political party, civil society organization, churches, women group and every group that the future belong to the Youth and process should therefore be led by the youth themselves as it’s the case in the SPLM/SPLA in (Opposition).

It’s our commitment that we must continue making SPLM/SPLA in (Opposition) the most constant presence in the lives of the people of South Sudan, we have been so for the last seven weeks and now we must move forward with our vision of leading South Sudan into a future of certainty and commitment to democracy and development that is meaningful for all the citizens of South Sudan.

We in the SPLM/SPLA YL in (Opposition) believes that our nation has taken a new path and to consolidate this new developmental path requires using democratic state power with the utmost determination and strategic discipline and its still our commitment that South Sudan belongs to all who live in it, be it a Nuer, Dinka, Bari or  Shilluk or any of the other sixty two tribes and that no government or president can justly claim authority like Kiir does, unless it is based on the will of all the people.  Given this theory, we should therefore agree that the legitimacy of Kiir is at stake and it shall be of a great benefit to both himself and his family if he could move a side before it’s too late for him.

We in the SPLM/SPLA YL in (Opposition) pledge ourselves to strive together, sparing neither strength nor courage, until the democratic changes set out have been won by the movement. E.g, a free South Sudan that belong to all and governed by the rule of law. We also congratulated our gallant forces for the job well done by bringing down the UPDF helicopter and managing to fight both Uganda, JEM, SPLA North and the minority that remain with Kiir. We are behind you, we are proud of you and you will never die in vain but for the freedom of your people.

The last but not the least, the announcement of the two vacant post  by Kiir is rubbish and he has no legal ground to remove any body from the structure of the movement and he Kiir should have known that SPLM does not belong to him and he will never own it.

Long live SPLM/SPLA
Long live Cde. Dr. Riek Machar Teny
Long live the people struggle
Thanks,
Yours in the struggle
Cde. Puot Kang Chol
SPLM/SPLA YL (in opposition) Representative.
