Still in Wau, Nuer students studying at Bahr El Ghazal University and other Nuer civilians say they had been denied access to UNMISS Camp after realizing their lives were at risk after Mapel Massacre. One of the students said that an officer at UNMISS revealed that they had been instructed by Western Bahr El Ghazal State authorities not to allow into UNMISS Camps South Sudanese nationals especially Nuers saying they would grantee their security.

In a separate development on 25-4-2014 in Upper Nile State, government troops acting on orders of Brig. Gen. Guot Akuei, former Commissioner of Renk County killed 300 Nuer civilians mostly women, children and the elderly at Gerger. This vulnerable group was trying to cross over to sisterly Republic of Sudan when they were ambushed and brutally murdered.

Some of the survivors revealed that pregnant women had their stomachs cut open in order to determine sex of fetus and upon discovering that the fetus is a boy, its throat is slit and then the lifeless body is placed on its dead mother .
