August 27, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan security forces have arrested Godfrey Kenyi Mulla, a son of SPLM politician in the ranks of SPLM/SPLA in Opposition.
According to James Gatdet Dak, the Press Secretary of South Sudan Armed Opposition, Godfrey was arrested at work yesterday in Juba, South Sudan.
“We have learnt with disbelief that government security agents this morning arrested Godfrey Kenyi Mulla, son of Comrade Dr. Richard K. Mulla. He was picked from his work place at Kenyan Commercial Bank in Juba.” Gatdet said.
Gatdet calls on Salva Kiir’s government to promptly release Mr. Godfrey, warning that targeting civilians for being relatives of SPLM/SPLA leaders is uncalled for.
“We call on President Salva Kiir’s government to release him. This is unbecoming. He shouldn’t be targeted simply because he is a son of a senior official of our Movement, even when a final peace agreement was signed by the President on Wednesday, 26 August.” Gatdet said.
“His whereabouts is not known. It is important that higher authorities intervene to give back his freedom.” he concludes.
Like many other families, South Sudan conflict has split many families into the two rival camps of SPLM/SPLA. Sons, brothers, daughters, nephews and in-laws of senior government officials, ministers and governors have joined the rebel movement to weight war against Salva Kiir’s “failed” government.
As the recently signed peace agreement comes to effect, many families and tribesmen are expected to reunite and resume live, however, analysts fear that the conflict has polarized social fabric and peaceful co-existence of neighboring tribes.
President Kiir has loosely signed the peace agreement 9 days after its due dateline with many reservations and blames but the region, AU and the international community demand full and unconditional implementation of the agreement.

We are at war and no joke, comfortable and his father is killing our soldiers. Why he didn’t run away like many others. He should have joined his father along time ago or he should have been arrested from beginning to cut money LAUNDERING to help his father.
Keep him for a while without CHARGES and don’t allow him back to Commercial Bank. South Sudanese need to wake up with their nonsense rebellion.
Cowardice. The son of Richard K Mulla did not rebel against the government. He can never be punished for the decision of his father to fight Kiir’s Government. He is an individual and an adult for that matter and has the right to decide for himself. Why would Kiir’s regime want to force people to be its enemies?
