November 12, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — Reports from South Sudan’s Unity State alleged that Salva Kiir government plans an intensive military operation to consolidate Guit, Nhialdiu and neighboring towns, which have been predominantly held by the SPLA rebel faction, under the former Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar.
According to SPLA-IO military sources in Unity State, who reports on condition of anonymity due to fear of repercussion, Salva Kiir government has landed two big tanks in Rubkona this morning.
“According to our military intelligent in Rubkona town, today a big government plane landed on Rubkona airport carrying two tanks dispatched by the government in Juba” said the rebel military general on the ground.
The general urges IGAD and the International Community to take notes and immediately dispatch their respective teams to Guit and Nhialdiu of Rubkona County to record and investigate what he refers as a “disturbing lust for a deadly war” by “the terrorists in Juba”
“This is to inform the region and the international community that the terrorists in Juba have a disturbing lust for a deadly war in this country. They are now planning to attack our positions in Nhialdiu in Rubkona county and Guit county headquarters.” The General explains.
“We will response in self-defense like never before should they attempt to attack our position in Guit, Nhialdiu and other towns but we want this confused IGAD to be aware in time and know who control what and when” He said.
“This IGAD verification mechanism team has not arrive here yet and tomorrow they will be the first to accuse us of attacking the same areas we control today. They must come here to document what happens on the ground” The general elaborates.
According to the military intelligence, Juba has designated Gen. Tahib Gatluak to carry out the operation to capture Guit, Nhialdiu and Unity State oil fields.
The source alleged that Gen. Tahib Gatluak was ordered on Friday at Bilpham Headquarters by the Chief of General Staff, Paul Malong Awan, who recently returned from Frankfurt, Germany, where he attended a medical treatment after collapsing in Juba last month.
According to Chiengko Banen, who correspondences for Nyamilepedia from Rubkona, “a big Uganda branded warplane that was loaded with two tanks was dispatched by the government in Juba and landed today at Rubkona airport”.
Although Banen could not verify the plans and dates of when to attack Guit or Nhialdiu, he confirms that the “moral of SPLA-Juba and allied SSLA rebels here is very high”.
The SPLA-IO military general in Guit insists that the Public, IGAD and the International Community should know ahead that the government will attack their positions in the coming days.
“And therefore we want the public and the (MVT ) monitoring and verification team to have knowledge before the government execute it’s offensive against our forces.” The general states.
“Let the public , regional and international community know that the government is not willing to solve the current bloodshed it inflicted by itself upon the people of south Sudan and that our forces are there ready just in self-defence and to thwart any suspicious plan by the government to undermine the current peace effort under way in Ethiopia.” The statement concludes.
In other reports, Uganda has delivered 3 out of 10 Sukhoi Su-30 multirole fighter jet, recently obtained from Russia, to Juba to provide aerial support to South Sudan government forces.
Juba and Kampala signed a military cooperation of late for the latter to buy weapons and military equipment on behave of South Sudan.
Attempts to reach the Military Spokesmen, Col. Philip Aguer for SPLA-Juba and Brig.Gen. Lul Ruai Koang for the SPLA-IO have failed, however, both sides continue to accuse one another for escalating the conflict.
The two warring parties have fought in Pariang of Unity State, Pigi, Khorfulus and shelling on Phom El Zaraf of Jonglei state and also in Dukduk and Gerbenna near the oil fields in Northern Upper Nile during and after the signing of the implementation Matrix of Cessation of Hostilities agreement.
The two parties have rededicated to cease all hostilities as of November 9th, 2014 as the Ugandan troops and other allied forces are expected to begin progressive withdrawal this coming Sunday, however, both sides have continued to accuse one another for violating the COH agreement, yet the Ugandans have preconditioned their withdrawal.
The regional bloc, IGAD, TRIOKA and the international community have warned to sanction and freeze assets of those who will violate the matrix, however, the mediators have not response with punitive measures to the latest violation.
“The IGAD region shall, without further reference to the warring parties, take the necessary measures to directly intervene in South Sudan to protect life and restore peace and stability,” Amb.Seyoum said.
“Should it be necessary to implement these measures, the IGAD region calls on the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union, the Security Council of the United Nations, and the entire international community, to render all possible assistance in the implementation of these measures” Amb. Seyoum continued.
