Feb 2, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The caretaker governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Nguen Monytwuil, has categorically denied the defection of his technical advisor, Hon. Tungwar Gatluak to SPLM/A in Opposition.

According to an earlier report, gathered by correspondent Turial Moses in Khartoum, Sudan, the technical advisor to Unity State governor, Mr. Tungwar Gatluak, has reportedly denounced Salva Kiir’s autocratic regime and calls on Dr. Riek Machar Teny’s leadership to end the tribal leadership of Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, a report that has been denied by the caretaker governor of Unity state.

“The Governor and the Government of Unity State is concerned with an online publication that appeared on Nyamilepedia or nyamile.com of February 1, 2015 alleging that Hon. Tungwar Gatluak, a technical Advisor in the office of the Governor of Unity State defected to Riek Machar.” Reads the report from Dr. Manytuil’s office.

According to governor Manytuil, the alleged defection of Mr. Tungwar is a desperate attempt by the SPLM/A [IO] to create confusion in Unity State leadership.

“The Governor of Unity State H.E Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang would like to inform the people of Unity State and the people of South Sudan at large that this propaganda is a desperate attempt by the rebels to create confusion among the people of South Sudan.” Reads the governor’s report to Nyamilepedia.

“The public is therefore informs that Hon. Tungwar is in Khartoum under permission from the State to see his family. He will come back to the State and resume his duties once the period of his permission expires.” The report continued.

According to Mayen Benson Nirew, the Press Secretary in the office of the Governor of Unity State, the alleged defection is intended to tarnish the image of Governor Manytuil and the Government of Unity State, and therefore it must be rejected by the people of South Sudan.

Mr. Mayen explains that Hon. Tungwar is a brother to Hon. Tut Gatluak, who advises President Salva Kiir Mayardiit in Juba, South Sudan, and therefore he cannot defect.

Tungwar Gatluak, who traveled to Khartoum to visit his family, according to Unity State leadership, has attended the Bul Community Meeting at El Giref, Khartoum, where he is believed to have announced his defection to SPLM/A in Opposition.

Attempts to reach advisor Tungwar to verify the claims over the phone have failed, however, Mayen believes that Hon. Tungwar is in contact with his brother Hon. Tut and other officials.
