SPLM/SPLA [IO]: Leadership Deplores The Belligerent Position Being Adopted By Our Partners In Peace

Press Release,

General Headquarters

March 22, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- The leadership of the SPLM/SPLA in opposition deplores the increasingly belligerent position being adopted by our partners in peace. The Movement particularly condemns the arrest yesterday (21/03/2016) of three SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) DDR team members, two UN national staff (from UNMISS and UNICEF) and one international staff at Malakal Airport. This is another blatant violation of the ARCISS and the SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) shall not    continue to tolerate this state of affairs.

The lack of political will by the Salva Kiir Administration is currently the most significant obstacle to the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (ARCISS). This is demonstrated by a number of additional violations; which include but are not limited to, the Establishment Order No. 36/2015 Dividing South Sudan into Twenty-eight (28) States. This decree is not only in contradiction to the ARCISS, but is also bad politics, creating new inter and intra tribal conflicts with communities across the country; as witnessed by recent clashes.

The continued military offensive by government forces on innocent civilians and SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) cantonment areas in Bhargazal and in Equatoria, further demonstrates this lack of political will. The failure of the Salva Kiir Administration to recognize the reality of SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) cantonment areas in Bhargazal and Equatoria is frustrating the security arrangements, which would facilitate the safe return to Juba of the First Vice President Designate – Dr. Riek Machar Teny and the much anticipated formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU).

The return of Dr. Riek Machar Teny to Juba is not the obstacle to the peace process and the formation of TGonU as alleged by hardliners in and out of the government. The SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) considers the return to Juba of the First Vice President Designate – without the previously agreed upon security arrangements, coupled with the lack of political will to implement the agreement as a threat to national security. The Movement calls on President Salva Kiir to rein in on all the hardliners in and out of the government who are making peace impossible and immediately return to the full implementation of the ARCISS in good faith.

The SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) is fully committed the letter and spirit of the ARCISS.

Iam sure Mabior, Kiir is kind of snubbed to any so called international community demands and order. This guy require more like to learn such as that of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, he doesn’t even thinks that the international community could expunged him. I think he thought South Sudan is in cosmos that it couldn’t reached to face his crimes. We need federalism in South Sudan from Dr.Riek.

Mathiang,
SPLM-In Opposition do not operate under SPLM-In Government’s AUTHORITY. They are two organizations(entities) with two seperate armies & two C-In-C. Pray to your JCE for some miraculous unity or else uniting commands and authority under your tyrant tribal king wannabe is just a pathetic dream.

Beek,
Thanks you in deed. This little tribal minded GatNor doesn’t know that his so-called advanced teams ‘re under the authority of government.
Don’t worry bro, self delusion is the culture of centuries for those of GatNor.
In regard to his claim that SPLM-IO is a separate entity, I can’t dispute it but where will they get financial resources to pay white army and power hungry generals.
I hope he will not tell us that Troika and IGAD will provide the funds as in the case of troops’ transportation to Juba.
