South Sudan’s Unity States Students Mourn Over Gatturoal and Gideon Biding Jageah’s Departures

May 09, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —–  South Sudanese students from the oil rich Unity State – Bentiu studying in Egyptian Universities and Higher Institutes issued a heart-breaking statement regretting the death of Unity State spiritual leader Dhiaydor Turoal Thay Bany and a reowned Unity State Paramount Chieft Gideon Biding Jageah, who both passed away in Unity State’s Tuarkiel and Nairobi Kenya respectively.

“On behalf of the Unity State Students’ association in University and higher institutes in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and on my own behalf, I, express my deep sorrow and heartbreaking condolences to the beloved citizens of Unity State and Families of late Dhiaydor Turoal Thai Bany and Gideon Biding Jageah, who both passed away in Unity State’s Tuarkiel and Nairobi Kenya on 28 April and 1 May, in particular” partly read the statement signed by Unity State Students’ Association Chairman Gatguat Tap Gatluak. We acknowledge with deep sorrow that Unity State has lost great public figures in a horoble time, the statement added.

On 30 April, Dhiaydor Turoal Thay passed away in Tuarkiel after battling an undisclosed illness at the age of 101 as well as Gideon Biding Jageah who passed away in Nairobi Kenya on 1 May 2016.

Body Congratulates Kiir and Machar,

In a related development, the body, Unity State students’ Association congratulates president Salva Kiir and Dr Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon for forming the long awaited Transitional government of national unity. “Your excellencies, the current civil war set to end has broken the social fabric, destroy relations between tribes and and incured unexpected suffering upon our people” partly read the statement. “We congratulates you for recognising that the interest of the people of the Republic of South Sudan is above that of yours”, the statement added.

Last week, president Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar, then rebel leader formed what was described in the peace agreement as a unity government which is expected to end more than two years of brutal civil war which has put into consideration ethnic dimension, especially between the country’s two powerful tribes, the Dinka and the Nuer. Machar traveled to Juba last month followed by his swearing in as the second most powerful political and military leader in the young East Africa nation.
