Nov 8, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — Reports from South Sudan’s Unity State confirmed that new military confrontations resumed on 8th November at Tor and Hofra of Unity State.

According to Gen. Taban Deng Gai, the Chief Negotiator for SPLM/SPLA [in Opposition], the allied government forces, comprising of SPLA-Juba, SPLA-North, Darfur’s Justice and Equality Movement, launched fresh attacks on their positions in Unity on 8th November, 2014.

“On November 8,2014, GRSS, JEM and SPLA-North forces advanced from the direction of Bentiu and Pariang and attacked our positions at Tor and Hofra in Unity State.” The Chief Negotiator, Taban Deng Gai, said.

Gen.Taban informs the Chairperson of IGAD, TROIKA and the International community that the government has violated the recent agreements before the ink dries.

“We make this statement to bring it to the attention of the Chairperson of IGAD Special Envoys, H. E. Seyuom Mesfin, that the Govemment has again launched fresh attacks on our positions in Unity State this morning.” Gen. Taban said.

“The attacks come on the eve of the IGAD Heads of State and Government Summit where both the SPLM/SPLA and GRSS recommitted themselves to the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.” Gen. Taban continued.

The Chief Negotiator reiterates that the SPLM/SPLA condemns in the strongest terms possible the continuous aggression and violation of Cessation of Hostilities Agreement by the regime in Juba and calls on IGAD, Troika and the United Nations to condemn these unproved attacks by GRSS forces and investigate these aggressions.

According to Seyoum Mesfin, chief mediator in the conflict, the warring parties recommitted to unconditional, complete and immediate cessation of hostilities.

“The parties commit to an unconditional, complete and immediate end to all hostilities, and to bring the war to an end,” said Seyoum.

The regional bloc, IGAD, has warned the warring parties that the region, United Nations and the International Community will impose sanctions, travel bans and intervene to protect civilians should either side in the conflict violate the recent agreements.

“The IGAD region shall, without further reference to the warring parties, take the necessary measures to directly intervene in South Sudan to protect life and restore peace and stability,” Seyoum said.

“Should it be necessary to implement these measures, the IGAD region calls on the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union, the Security Council of the United Nations, and the entire international community, to render all possible assistance in the implementation of these measures” the 28th Extraordinary summit concludes.
