Feb 13, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — According to South Sudan minister of Information and Broadcasting, and the Government Spokesman, Michael Makuei Lueth, South Sudan cabinet has postponed the 2015 elections for another two years to 2017.

“In our quest for peace, the cabinet has decided to call off the elections and extend the lifespan of the elected positions so that we give peace a chance,” Makuei says.

“The cabinet has decided to give peace a chance, in so doing the cabinet has decided to extend the lifespan of the office of the president and the legislature for two years with effect from the 9th July 2015 to 9th July 2017” Makuei reiterates.

The elections, which were imposed to be conducted on 30th June, 2015 by Salva Kiir’s regime, lacked approval from the international communities, claiming that South Sudan is raged by wars and deaths, and therefore, the South Sudanese must focused on restoring peace, reconciliations and healing.

According to these voices, which were outrageously rejected by Juba, the two warring parties must signed an agreement before July 2015 and form a Transitional Government of National Unity that would last 30 months before elections are conducted.

Juba insisted that the elections must be conducted before July to reinstate Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardiit as the president, however, for the last two months South Sudan had met attempts to borrow loans from South Africa, Egypt, and China to conduct its election but little has been achieved.

In addition, the drop in oil prices at the world market and respective output per day have weaken the insufficient petro-dollar that South Sudan entirely depends on.

According to South Sudan transitional constitution (2011) censuses, and voter registration must proceed the general elections. In addition, all political parties must be registered before they participate in general elections. These processes, which are to be conducted, at least, 6 months before the elections have not been done.

The minister has said the cabinet will work with the national parliament to amend the transitional constitution to accommodate the changes.

“Cabinet will now work with the national parliament to amend the constitution in a way that extends the mandate of the movement to 9 July 2017,” he said.

The minister, however, claims that this decision was made in accordance to the recently signed partial agreements by the two principles, Dr. Riek Machar and Salva Kiir, and therefore, the postponement of elections is a good will gesture to allow peace in the country.

“This is in order to give peace a chance, so that and this is a clear expression of the government that it is serious and its means peace” Makuie says.

Makuei Lueth, everyone knows that there is no election that can take a place while the war was ongoing in the country. Whatever, the cabinets those decided to postponed the exercises, but contrary, it should be extended by the national assembly not the president Kiir’s cabinets, so there is no lifespans extension of the elected positions. Saliva Kiir has no extension for two years and he has already illegitimate president in the country, but there is no extension for those of you who involvement in the massacre of innocent civilians December 15, 2013. Dinka and Nuer and other tribes have no benefit in this kind of government, since they are killing themselves for no reasons at all, but failure of leadership.

President Salva Kirr should step down for peace and reconciliation to hold. Therefore, a transitional government of national unity is formed, to write a permanent constitution, reform the national army and prepare the country for national census/elections.

You must be kidding. Dr. Riek Machar is fighting for equality and freedom as he fought for self-determination. Salvatore should be the one leaving for exile before Murle, Nuer and Toromomi are going to kick him out before he finishes all the South Sudanese people.

Thank God Kiir’s government advisors are starting to put some sense into Kiir’s head. To have gone ahead with the election would have so much negative implications on the country for generations and one of the negative aspects would seriously reflect on the disenfranchised hundredth if not millions of voters and further completely endanger any future peace and peaceful coexistent. Denying one is right to have a fair chance of casting his or her vote broke up and destroyed a lot more than just the social fabric of many countries including Sudan. Now tell Kiir to step aside to save this country. Congratulations.

That is correct. Salvatore must have to leave whether he likes it or not. South Sudanese people are tired of his dictatorship. Enough is enough it is the time for the cowboy to leave to the cattle camp.

Election is postponed for sake of peace. Now, I want Riek and Salva to use our traditional Chiefs to reconcile them and bring about peace. IGAD will not bring peace because they have their own interests in South Sudan. And for you fools Nuer and Dinka, you need to know that South Sudan is not your cow, it belongs to all South Sudanese. You cannot subject the country to your stupid greedy war! You must end it now and allow able young leaders to take over. All of your old goats are useless!

Nyaluak Lual,

Thanks. You have made a valid comment. The country must be held above self; all protagonist will come to pass, but the land shall stay.

Well, if the the Nuer and Dinka chiefs can do something to salvage the land and it’s people from the blood letting, let’s try your proposal. I, too, have lost hope in IGAD. That club is succumbing to the whims of Museveni.

If the chiefs’ initiatives can be supported by the UN and the Americans, I think, something can be achieved. We achieved something in 1999 out of the Wunlit peace initiative: a purely local initiative.

After such local peace initiative, there must be a clause demanding the the current protagonists to go on hibernation to let the country recover under neutral and capable leadership before the take part in any political leadership.

Nyalual & like-minds,

If Dr. Riek doesn’t become president of South Sudan, expect this country to be in bloodbath for the rest of its life. We will make it three times like Somalia, Syria & Congo combined. All of you jang-snitches may as well prepare to live in exile for the rest of your hateful lives. i.e. if you don’t want to listen to AK-47 for the rest of your sorry lives.

The White Army have done a lot of liberation work and their reward for this hardwork shall be nothing less than our Dr. Riek Machar ruling this country of our collective fathers, grandfathers whose cows and sorghum fed the SPLM/A during the 21-years of struggle. Our Eastern Nuer have been trampled developmentally malaffected by the 21-YEAR old struggle of SPLM/A that has luckily transformed into Independence.

Thanks to Dr. Gai Tut, Riek Machar, Chuol Deng and the list goes on …..

Dinka have ruled for many years – – – it is Naath turn Now rain or shine! Our Nuer Pride has been insulted by Kirr and for him to remain president will have to be over many dead bodies. We will fight to the last man standing to re-erect this wounded Naath Pride.

No Dr. Riek in J1 means No Peace in Independent South South!!! We Swear to Ngundeng / God / Jesus and all deities.

Now that the 2015 general elections will not happen, Kiir has to serve up to July 9, 2015 only, thereafter, South Sudan needs to enter into a transitional period whereby the country needs to be led by a team of technocrats less Kiir-Macher arrangement.

This transitional government will be responsible for cobbling together a new constitution, with the in put of South Sudanese, supervised by the UN. I have lost faith in IGAD.

The current parliament must be dissolved as well so that there is a committee formed representing all nooks and crooks of South Sudan in an objective manner.

This way, SPLA/SPLM will be made to take a back seat and recuperate for a future comeback. South Sudan must not be held a hostage by a group of blood thirsty-money hungry goons whose immediate relatives don’t bear the brunt of the current war. Kiir’s advisors must let their chief know that his stay at J1 will come to an end by July 9, 2015 on the same note, Macher’s closest associates must let him know that he will not be a viable option for the top leadership before the transitional arrangement, a period South a Sudanese need to cool down and bury their hatchets.

Very good analysis Eastern. The two need to take a back seat during the interim period and let a neutral person lead during the transitional period. Our people need a break from this mess..

Any illegality by the current parliament to extend Kiir’s tenure will be another recipe for war; I and my like minded South Sudanese are not willing to have Kiir in leadership of the country. The leadership of the interime government can’t be taken by Macher either. I want a neutral and competent leadership without this two protagonists.

Short of that, we shall resort to curving out enclaves for ourselves in the current land that smokes up South Sudan.

Kiir,s tenure in office will expire by July 9th.2015. If he really loves south Sudan and its people, he should protect the name of his family by addressing the people of South Sudan on the night of July 9th. 2015, of his resignation period.

Man of the people, Salvatore does not care about the people of South Sudan, but he cares about his poor leadership. He likes to bury his life in the poor government of South Sudan. What ashamed!
