May 17, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The Collo (Shilluk) Community (CC) has been following the negative unfolding militarized events in and around the Collo Kingdom with great concern and worries, especially after the unfortunate attack of Lul Village by Akoka Dongjol Dinka in April 2015. The deadly event was even made worst when the same attackers ambushed and assassinated SPLA Gen. James Bwogo Olew with his thirteen body guards on their way to the fighting scene to contain and resolve the problem before it escalates to undesirable endings. Not only that , but also three drivers of the World Food Program (WFP) who hail from Collo tribe went missing and are believed to have been killed on Malakal-Akoka road by the very Dongjol Dinka attackers. More over, some workers and traders in Paloich and Melut who hail from Collo tribe were targeted and killed, At the same time, deadly shells were launched to Lul, Kodok, Detwok and Wic Rek area, killing and wounding many innocent civilians (women, children and elderly).

A military committee was dispatched from Juba to Malakal in the same dark April 2015 to investigate the matter but before it could release its report and recommendations; another fighting took place inside the capital town Malakal between the bodyguards of Upper Nile State Governor, Simon Kun Puoch and SPLA Gen. Johnson Olony Thubo, with more escalation that included involvement of some other armed forces and with regrettable loss of innocent civilians in the cross-fire, in addition to the losses on both sides of the fighting armed government forces themselves. May their souls rest in eternal peace!

Some initiatives of peaceful settlement attempts were conducted by the SPLA General Headquarters in Juba, the National Security and Intelligence Bureau, Prominent Businessman Obac William Olawo , and Collo King H.M. Kwongo Dak Padiet himself, who traveled to Malakal twice to see to it that peace, is prevailing over war mongering. Thereafter, it was announced in the media that Gen. Johnson Olony has not rebelled against the government as propagated by some ill-intentioners, and would be coming to Juba for more briefing and presentation of his grievances to the SPLA leadership.

However, the agreed expected time for the arrival of Gen. Johnson Olony in Juba has expired and, hence, the CC is getting more worried of another deadly clash in Malakal and Collo areas around. War is never good and it often doesn’t solve problems but complicate it with bitter undesirable consequences at the end. It is within this belief that the CC is urgently urging the two armed sides in tension to avoid war and uphold the spirit of dialogue, particularly for the sake of the vulnerable civilians who are supposed to be protected and kept safe by their very Government and also the United Nations Missions in South Sudan (UNMISS).

The CC would like to assure the public that the differences and clashes that have occurred in Malakal between the SPLA Gen. Olony’s forces and other SPLA forces has nothing to do with the entire Collo people as a tribe. The Collo, as an important people and a third majority tribe in South Sudan, has no other leader apart from their only one King at a time. Thus, Collo should not be victimized for the created problems by the fighting armed forces and should never be associated to any other person.

The CC would like to appeal to H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan and the C-in-C of the SPLA, that the Collo people are law-abiding peaceful citizens, who should never be targeted or punished collectively for isolated incidences. The unfounded claim of some Dinka sections over the territories of the Collo Kingdom is not a new issue. It should not be mixed up with politics in the government or differences within the SPLA. This could be resolved through courts of law or established traditional local conflict resolution mechanisms that existed between the Collo and Dinka since time immemorial.

The CC is hereby maximizing its efforts to see to it that dialogue always prevails with a strong belief that no problem is impossible to resolve if the good-will is invoked prudently. Whatsoever the differences, the Collo will always remain a strategic neighbor to Dinka people on the basis of peace, justice and harmony if pursued jointly & mutually.

Signed,

Prof. Joshua Otor Akol

Chairman of the Collo Intellectuals Committee,

On Behalf of the Collo Community, Juba

There is no golden blood and red blood,
If others could easily be killed, but the killer wouldn’t expect the same things,
It’s really unfortunate. Naath was massacred for no reason, and those killer
Thoughts that they aren’t going to be touched.

Truth be told there are many who feel just like you. The social fabric of South Sudanese communities of Jaang/Nuers is in great peril. I honesty feel sympathy for those leaders who will be responsible for re-storing it. Salute.

my brother agumut I can not disagree with you more about the way we can treat Riek more he can’t be the leader of south sudan because he is a betrayal and selfish person, he didn’t care about common man or Denka Nuer in that matter if you look at him he always happy and laughing never looked sad or unhappy because he have everything he wants except one thing the president, but I’m sure he can’t be thanks God for that.

It is true that the entire community of chollo has nothing to do with Johnson Olony! He can rebel at any time as he was with Khartoum an the Chollo majority was with the people of South Sudan. Yes, majority of Chollo people believed Olony without knowing his intention and even majority of Chollo politicians in Juba agreed with the attack launched against Simon Kun when Olony told them that he wanted the governor to be from chollo tribe since the Chollo were the ones defending the state from Riek Machar’s rebels. They didn’t know that the objective of Olony is to take the lands he claims to be under occupation by the Dinka of Donjol and Riek Machar is already dividing the states on ethnic lines and he already gave the Chollo Kingdom to Tijuok as governor. So, Olony must go with someone who is going to give him his land. I heard in one of Riek’s presentation that all lands including Malakal should be given to Chollo exclusively without the presence of any other tribe. That is a beautifully appealing speech for Olony.

Nyaluak,

Perhaps Simon Kun Puoc should make himself more useful for the Jaang kingdom and gather his Nuer Sell-Out to go face his problems in Malakal.

why is the prof still adoring the murderer militias leader kirr the killer? this man has no spirit of nationalism in him, he loses his sense as such, he is now advocating for the advancement of his dinka imperialism at the expenses of other minority tribes, the Collo people have prolong the conflict, now they have to pay for the price, the very regime they were backing have turned its killing machines against the Chollo. My advise to the prof and his Chollo people who are still adoring and worshiping the evil will soon be victims of this evil (Kirr), I applaud General Johnson Olony for been wise and resolute over his plan. Johnson don’t listen to Chollo people whose interests are all about money than liberation of your people.Thank you comrade Olony and may God bless you and keep you safe.

Joshua Otor Akol ,,, Olony war is Padang collo war,it is 100% tribalism , Olony movement is Collo movement to liberate Collo land from Padang. As Olony Collo white army are targeting Padang and other Dinka civilians . We must do the same , Collo must be targeted , all over great upper Nile ,specially Paloc , let them for get job there , and the border is in the middle of River Nile, Dinka side of Malakal , must be left behind by Collo ,and Joint Reik Machar ,Revenge killing from now on wards, since Collo killed Padang people every year in assassination in Malakal and all along the road to Malakal , even during liberation war they killed many as Arab soldiers all over great upper nile. They were accusing all Dinkas as SPLA . We know Olony is killing all Dinkas and Dinka will do the same as they are many in Melut, Renk , Paloc all this Collo are dead. no Collo to pass Akoko road, Joshua Otor , you are the one who incited this war ,in citizen paper in Juba. you will not be killing us and sleep with us in the same room, let all your people follow Nuers , in foreign country , specially Padang will not compromise Collo as Olony is targeting them , Padang will respect only Collo lady they marriage apart from in law.

GatNor,
If the 40 body guards of Simon Kun can fight Olony for more than twelve hours and took to safety all the Ministers, deputy governor, advisors, commissioner and others, do you think that the Nuer in government cannot defeat Olony and the entire Chollo Kingdom if they want to? The idea is that we are in the government of South Sudan not as tribe, but as one people in one nation. If it comes to the level of defending leaders at tribal level, Kun can return to Malakal tomorrow. Remember, that in the SPLA, we still have more than 50,000 strong Nuer soldiers now on active duty in Upper Nile, Equatoria and Bhar Al Ghazal. People who defend the national character of the nation cannot be called sell out. We will see who that level will fit well when all these none sense of war is over.

Nyaluak Lual ,

One of the most important thing you said so far is “national character of the nation” the rest is not even worth considering since you are talking about a Malakal governor who is neither well thought after by its own master(government) and now on the run, his state capital captured and as such a fugitive fleeing from the people he should be governing. That tell me a lot more than you have tried to convey.

Keep in mind that majority of the local community of Malakal do not wish to see him back there leave alone having him(Kun) as their governor whose very government he represents is in contempt with charges ranging from constitutional violations to crimes against humanity.

Citizens of the state capital Malakal are victims of these crimes perpetrated by the ethnic regime. Destruction would therefore be a part of the reason to having Kun Puoc imposed back on people of Malakal. Hence, the ethnic regime will continue the divide and rule tactics through Kun while setting the stage for more violence either on tribal lines or criminal group activities that are not happy with the government & its tool Kun.

Coming back to your so called “national character of the nation” also I wish you had elaborated on it a little more but I will take it from here since its obvious that we have views conflicting and indifferent at best on it.

South Sudan as a nation has no single distinct national character. Not even love & unity that binds all do they share on all four corners of the country.

I personally believe your assertion as if there were some real national character is deceptive since it can not be attributed to one region of the three namely Equatoria, Bar El Gazal nor Upper Nile because these regions have distinct nationalities of characters that also are recognized locally and country wide. Collectively though it is possible to realized such but the current ethnic regime is not on nifying path of a national character but rather on that destructive path of a Jaang tribal character.

A few of the most shared national character are CULTURE & LANGUAGE and South Sudan does not even come near having 64+ tribes and a bunch of tributaries of languages and cultures.

The name you have adopted as(“Nyaluak Lual”) is of Nuer & some Jaang nationality and its meaning would make no sense linguistically & culturally to many other nationalities of the 60+ tribes(nationalities) within South Sudan leave alone the region of Upper Nile in which such name is popular.

Hoiloom,
We liberated South Sudan from Sudan government without any payment. You know that…Please if you need money, don’t take it on us. We are a government and we must pay our employees. No Nuer receives more than his/her salary in South Sudan because they didn’t follow Riek Machar. To be honest with you, Riek Machar is like a girl to the Nuer men. When you see him at first sight, you will fall in love with him. But if you know him well, you must be as far away from him as possible. The guy is sent to South Sudan by the devil to finish the people of South Sudan. We know that as long as he is around, South Sudan will always be in war. Take this from me. Either he is the president or he will fight until he meets his death like his great grand father Puot when he was killed by British colonialists when he mobilized the people of Bentiu to raid the cattle of Agar people in the president day Lakes State. For your information, Riek is not a leader, he is a power hungry person. He knows now that there is no way he will ever become president of South Sudan since he messed up his cards. He also knows that the Nuer he has now are not the quality type that can bring him anything. He will sign peace soon to be VP and those of you who are fighting for more than positions, can continue until you go home peacefully. A Nuer will be president of South Sudan, but not Riek Machar, and not in this way. Reputation of a big ethnic group with known intellectually like Nuer cannot be tarnished by one lunatic every decade. This has to come to an end now or later. I am very sorry!
