Sept 10, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — In a mini coffee ceremony attended by a young South Sudanese peace messenger who was last month named by Kale Hiywot Church of Ethiopia as Peace Ambassador. Gatwech Koak Nyuon urged the Ethiopia and US governments to push the warring parties to restore peace in South Sudan while marking the New Year and September 11 respectively.
Speaking at the eve of Ethiopians New Year, Gatwech added that South Sudan did not celebrate the Christmas and the New Year because of man-made problem. “At least my people should celebrate the new year in 2015” he added.
South Sudan is the youngest Country in the World which separated from Khartoum regime in 2011.
In a morning coffee ceremony organized by Ethiopian youth in Addis Ababa, Gatwech said that youth are the backbone of the country and insisted that Ethiopia and South Sudan had natural historical relationship. He mentioned that US is not just a friend to South Sudan but an elder brother.
On Saturday 06 September, 2014, Gatwech released a video on YouTube entitled “urgent call of prayer by Gatwech Koak Nyuon (http://youtu.be/wDrIT8NTM-M ).” to help raise an awareness for international communities to act on his country for peace
Thousands of people have died and 1.3million have been displaced in the conflict since December, 2013.
Gatwech congratulated the people of Ethiopia and United States on the events and believed that the September 11 anniversary and Ethiopian New Year will bring some change in South Sudan.
The next round of talk between government and opposition is due to resume on September 15, 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
