Opening Remarks For Memorial Service

By Simon T. Mach,

Dec15_2014December 14, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — I want to welcome you on behalf of the organizers who made this day possible: the Nuer Christian Denomination, the nuer community, and the Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Hamilton.

It is an honour and a pleasure to have this privilege to welcome all of you to join in the remembrance of 20,000 lives that perished on December 15, 2013.

We are here today in thespirit of remembance to keep them alive in our memory, while hoping that this tragedy should not repeat itself.

God may lead our way toward sustainable healing, forgiveness and reconciliation. if this can be achieved, it could be an example and model for the rest of the world.

What can each of us do to work toward achieving justice? i ask everyone to remain committed to live in the spirit of love (which means charity in the Greek language); this is what Jesus demonstrated to us in his life and teachings.

In this spirit, let us begin our service of remembrance.
