August 20, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — We, the family of late Gabriel Yien Gai Dhol, who was killed in cold blood in Mabaan county of Upper Nile state on Sunday August 3, 2014 do hereby condemn the cowardly act of Salva Kiir’s Security Agents who disguised themselves as maban Militias and murdered our beloved son, who had committed no crime other than his Nuer ethnicity.

This is to inform the killers that we know who you are and you will never hide behind innocent people of Mabaan, who have been our historical friends and relatives. We know that Gabriel Yien Gai and his other Nuer Colleagues, who are working in Relief Agencies were being, wrongfully, accused of spying for Rebels and inform the International community about the human rights abuses being practice by the regime in those remote areas of the country. Therefore, the National Security of the regime in Juba decided to eliminate them by all means possible. However, since it would have been impossible to simply pick them up in their work stations, where some expatriates may be found, the regime security agents had to instigate a situation which must provoke chaos in the area and use the time to carry out their malicious killing.

Furthermore, we would like to thank and appreciate all the concerned voices raised high in condemnation of that malevolent action of the security agents in Mabaan. And although the Mabaan intellectuals in North America condemned the kiiling, still much more needs to be done back home by the newly appointed Mabaan Commissioner, through whom the killings was carried out. For it was that new commissioner who instigated the chaotic situation, which resulted in indiscriminate shootings in and around the town by ordering the unnecessary disarmament of the Nuer elements of the SPLA, which was meant to provoke the situation.
