The Chairperson of Gawaar-Nuer community in Ugandan, Mr. Wuor Gatjang Puol, wholeheartedly welcomes the long awaiting formation of Transitional Government of National Unity in which president Salva Kiir and first vice president, Dr Riek Machar, formed the government yesterday. This is a very fantastic step toward peace implementation.
The chairman further congratulates the new appointed ministers and deputy ministers who were given great tasks to preach the message of peace and reconciliation to our people of South Sudan.
Gatjang encourages the South Sudanese people to support President Salva Kiir and first vice president Dr Riek Machar to implement the peace agreement amicably and maintain the lasting peace to the country. This transitional government of national unity complies with terms of Peace Agreement which was signed in August on 6 by Dr Riek Machar and on 26 by Salva Kiir hence needs to be respected and follow the steps toward implementation of peace accord.
The chairperson congratulates the chairman and commander-in-chief of SPLM/A-IO Dr Riek Machar Teny for appointment of ten ministers and two deputy ministers and most especially the appointment of son of this community Lt Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam as deputy minister of Interior in the national level.
Lt Gen. Gabriel Duop is a road of this community of Gawaar and also eye of South Sudanese people therefore; we really welcome his appointment as deputy minister of Interior in the national level.
He has been struggling for the freedom of South Sudan since the liberation struggle between North Sudan and Southern Sudan when he joined red army in Bilpham and in 2013 he did not betray his community and people of South Sudan after the conflict erupted. So we trust him and he also trust the community of Gawaar. We the people of South Sudan are suffering a lot for consequences of war which erupted in 2013 that has taken over 50,000 lives and displaced nearly three million people.
Chuol Jany Chuol, the Secretary General of Gawaar-Nuer community in Uganda, strongly reminds President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Dr Riek Machar Teny that our people do not need a fake but genuine peace that will once again unite and reconcile our people. He said that South Sudanese people don’t want your plan B and C behind this peace implementation. You are our leaders and we are your people, but we need peace and your commitments en route for peace accord.
Jal Duop Yang, a community member, says this peace is the desire of people of South Sudan and it needs be to implemented without self-interest from people who are barriers to peace implementation. We also call upon peace partners to avoid those obstacles like 28 states which were created unilaterally by Salva Kiir without consent of people of South Sudan and without knowledge of IGAD-plus who brokered peace agreement in Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
Jal also said that the issue of 28 states must be omitted if President Salva Kirr really means peace for his people as we all know that the issue of 28 states is very serious obstacle toward peace implementation and this need to be avoided for the sake of peace. A leader is a leader for the people and the country is a country for the people therefore, our leaders need to respect the rights of their people.
