The famous phrase -Better safe than sorry- is truly a way forward for a particular cause
April 12, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — My dearest community at large, concern citizens of South Sudan at home and in diaspora, Chair of SPLM/A I-O under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon and all other immediate community members. I want to bring to your intention some development which could be of a concern to the movement as the current opposition military and political force battling the current leadership of H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The current conflict has taken many lives yet it feels like more lives are to be taken before we can all sort our internal problems. I want to be crystal clear on where I stand in this imposed crisis that has ravaged our country South Sudan beyond recovery level. When this internal war or many observers and critics describes it as political turmoil begun in late 2013, the whole community was in disbelieve because everyone were living in harmony under many hopes and dreams. The hope of a country that we can all call our own, the hope of better education for future generations to come, the hope of reconciliation from our past mistakes.
The massacre occurred during the time most of the well known generals where close ally and very much active force under the leadership of president Salva Kiir were Nuer by Ethnicity and some were from other tribe so what really happen?
Few high ranking generals like the living lion aka Jundi Iraq or Gen Peter Gatdet Yak by his real name decided from the initial phase of this long conflict that the people who got massacred were innocent so they defect immediately without delays so why did it take most generals or brigadiers or other ranks with high military profiles background and few politicians to take time sometime 6 months plus before they can decide? Is something ringing alarm bell here?
Another fact is, while defection is good because its a justifiable conscience act undertaken by individuals because they have no other alternative means of settling their problems, the oppressor or the problem maker should take the opportunity to prevent this from happening so did the Juba Government prevented Gen Gatwech Pouch from joining the ranks under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar? Is anything ringing the alarm bell here? And why did he blame Douth Guet for what happen to Nuer people while defending Salva Kiir? I don’t want to be seen as the maniac here but facts must be told and I am maniac for pointing out the truths.
Could it be that Juba Government and Ugandan Government under the leadership of H.E Yoweri K Museveni have hidden agendas as a result of recent high ranking military and intelligence personnel to SPLM/A I-O? Agents spies?
We need to be very careful. As much as I would like to congratulate many recent renegades to the opposition, I also reject the fact that many supporters or the actual leadership of SPLM/A oppose the controversial assumption that few people within the opposition ranks might very well be spies and agents to the JUBA Government under overall command of Yoweri K Museveni of Uganda. We cannot afford to prolong this war, our innocent people are dying in UN-IDP Camps and across South Sudan because of certain people playing cat and mice game.
I am calling on the leadership of SPLM/A I-O to immediately scrutinise any military individual while being under heavy surveillance for your own sake and the movement survival. As we continue to struggle for peace to end this conflict, let us not be confined in contributing our ideas and thoughts. We must continue to voice our concerns, we must continue to work hard because it is the best thing you could ever do to help out if other means are out of reach.

You are wright. Mussevini wants to
rule for life. And a democratic South Sudan is a threat to Uganda. Now that the negotiation is IGAD PLUS, and the rebels genuine grievances may have some concerns at this time, the Juba side will want to send some spies to destroy the people’s movement in order to
consolidate their stay in power.
Machar and the movement have to be
careful and cautious not to allow
some defectors to kill the driven dreams
of the South Sudanese people.
Change is coming to South Sudan
soon. IGAD PLUS will bring
peace and democracy to South
Sudad. And Kir and Mussevini
Will be the great looser and the rebels will be the great winners.
Congratulations. The work has
just began. And this is the time to
be careful not to allow spoiler
to destroy the popular dream of
the South Sudanese people.
There are confirmed individuals within the splm/a members still on Juba’s payroll. How committed to they are to the liberation is upto the Oppostion to decide on case by case bases. The possibilities of imbedded saboteurs can not be ignore as mere conspiracy theories.
Why not,It seems you begin to wake up.Use slaves and to kill slaves. Northerners had done that for years when they use you Nuer and other minorities Southerners to destroyed South.
I am also concerning the life of this man who defected last week and he is now facing too many questions and my message to his relatives to make sure that, he will not go to front-line of rebels because the radical Nuers will destroy his life for no reason. I would like to tell relatives to immediately calling on Br, general Gatwech Pouch to stayed Kenya or some where otherwise, this article indicated the rebels leaders are so doubting on him. Some human being do not know how to express themselves and I think this is the case for Br, general Gatwech Pouch who flew away because he was not promoted last Month while his colleagues from Nuers got promotion. He was living in Wau, the capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal State and he has no Idea for what happen in Juba 2013, if you ask him absolutely, he will not give you good answer because he was in Bahr el Ghazal just like 3000 Nuers SPLA living there now..
Also it was not wise to questioning him for not defected early time, this show the SPLA IO need Nuers all to defected and that make none of Nuers too skeptical to join the former vice president’s movement. Those Ideas of associate with your tribe is making faction failed. Please keep singing about doubting Br, general Gatwech Pouch but in reality, former governor of Unity State Mr. Taban Deng Gai, Dr. David de Chand, Peter Gatdate Yaka and James Koang Chuol are eating boat of former vice president and some body there is really MI no question on that.
How can you alert people about the important of one human life and yet suggestively implies that the big names below on your last 3 lines be poisoned by MI within.
I support Panom’s suggestion for the reason that internal sabotage always leads to the downfall of a government or a movement. It was due to internal sabotage that brought Somalia to its knees in the 1990s, It was also due to internal sabotage which brought down Joseph Savimbi to his failure. From our own example, Abdella William Chuol Deang was gun down by those who had defected from SPLA soldiers then fighting AA-II. There are numerous examples that we can learn from in order to avoid repitition of the same mistakes should comes with stars or a gentleman tie to us. While we applaud the defectors from the same regime, we cannot be over excited that they have come clean after over a year clinging to the same murderous regime for whatever reasons. Let’s all be cautious hereafter.Old military tactics die hard in the new systems. The tactics of infiltratinng into enemies’ territories via defections or supporting the causes to which the enemies’ fight for is being revived in SS conflicts. A few months ago, soldiers who had defected to SPLA-IO army in Upper Nile fonrtlines have led SPLA-IO soldiers to areas where they were ambushed and killed. This together with other examples serve as reminders to what would come next in related manner. I hate procrastination with a passion!!
SPLM-IO itself is a Saboteur, they have committed it and the same sabotage have to be done to each of them.
Nyaluak Lual i solute you on behave of explanation you did to the rebels, fortuantly you are the first south Sudanese nocks the door of truth by now I am still laughing but not at you but at the facts you told to the rebels. Thank you
Panoum Kor Chagai,
There are two things I want to address in your communication above. I am doing this because I know you and your questions deserve honest answer. Second, you presented like someone who can handle the truth, so my writing, I assume, will not go on a closed mind. You will actually analyze it since you are already asking questions.
First of all, from day one, the government of South Sudan never prevented any Nuer from leaving Juba by all routes whichever destination of their choosing. So if some people who have rebellion tendencies want to leave, they were free to leave from day one without any problem. So, no one is being held hostage here. And since you asked about Gatwech Puoch’s delay to leave the government, he was always free from December 2013 as he has been frequenting Nairobi, Kampala or any foreign capital, May be he didn’t make his decision yet at that time. He is the best friend of Brig. General Gregory, brother-in-law of Salva and Gen. Paul Malong Awan. So he was in very good hands here. In fact, the safest Nuer in the government held territory.
Now, let me come to the burden of your remarks. First of all, you asked, ” Why did it take long time to defect?” That is a very important question because for every defection, there is an ulterior motive. It is not always about the larger cause. For example, Peter Gatdeet Yak, declared quickly in Bor to join Riek because he was in the group of Riek from the planning days of the crisis in February 2013. Where else would he be when the crisis actually started in December 2013. Gen. James Koang Chuol Ranley was transferred from Bentiu as Governor Joseph Montuil and his brother Bapiny didn’t want him in Bentiu because he is from Nasir. They wanted to replace him with Karlos Kuol whom they didn’t know was going to rebel after he failed to secure the position there as the war started before he could be assigned. Though James Hoth Mai refused to transfer James Koang Chol back to Juba, the President made the decision for his transfer. James Koang Chol became very angry. He had to fight against Minytuil family that caused his transfer from Bentiu. If there was no transfer, you know CDR is a real SPLA officer, he would never defect. Everybody trusts him here. Do you know even today all his properties in Juba are not touched by the government even though every person who defected their properties are under national security control?
Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth, had a long problem with Kun Puoch for being removed as Commissioner of Nasir County. Every position that you can give Gathoth Gatkuoth, he would never accept it as important unless it is the position of commissioner of Nasir. He was an advisor to the governor, but he always hated that position and hated Kun for replacing him from Nasir commissionership with his brother-in-law Peter Dak Tap. If you studied the fighting very well in Upper Nile, it started with Gathoth Gatkuoth mobilizing the people of Nasir to fight against Dak Tap. It was after he defeated Dak Tap that they now had to come and chase away Simon Kun from Malakal. The war of Upper Nile was against Simon Kun by his cousin Gathoth Gatkouth. Riek had to later transform it to a bigger objective of regime change in Juba.
Now, if you come to Peter Gatwech Dual and Tanginye, etc, these were people who were attacked in their homes in Juba by certain Dinka elements who didn’t like them. They had to run for their lives. And when they did, they find themselves in the bush with Dr. Riek and they had to join him.
Gen. Dau Atorjong, left because Paul Malong Awan became the chief of staff. Dau contested the gubernatorial election of Northern Bhar Al Ghazal against Paul in 2010 and he lost. During elections, they became very bitter enemies to the point where Dau believes that when Paul became Chief of staff, he was going to either fire or kill him. He had to fly to a lesser evil…Dr. Riek.
You very well know the case of Khamis Abdallah Thayif and Makuei Lueth. He had to leave. You know the case of G-10 plus one when they were fired, they had to instigate instability in the country because South Sudan without them on the driver seat cannot be a country.
Duer Tut Duir left in June 2014 because he thought the position of governor of upper nile through sweat and blood from Kiir so much, but failed to secure it. Kiir didn’t trust him. He is a guy who never set foot in the bush before and SPLM wondered what he was up to. Anyways, since he failed to get it here, he had to join Dr. Riek so that he might get that possibility. When Riek promised that he would make it a governor, he had to leave Juba. Now, do you still wonder why he arrived and made a governor even though there are so many qualified Ulang politicians who were there from day one (MPs, etc) and were never considered for that post?
For Brig. General Gatwech Puoch, I explained to you earlier that he left because he was not promoted to Maj. General. You know this family with the hunger for power. All other lists he presented in his declaration were a cover for one thing only.
Finally, he blamed Thomas Duoth. let me give you the reason why. Gatwech Puoch is a very good friend of Brig. Gen. Gregory, who is the brother of first Lady Ayian Mayardit. In 2012, it was Gatwech Puoch and Chuol Gakah who made a story that Gen. James Hoth May and Majak Agot were planning a coup against Salva Kiir Mayardit. In fact, the J1 office had to be surrounded with concrete pavement stones to protect the building from tanks when it is attacked by coup plotters. Those stones are still there today. They have never been removed. They were placed there during the conspiracy that James Hoth and Majak were planning a coup. Gregory went and told the President the Nasir generals have discovered a plot by James Hoth and Majak to oust you from power. It took all of us to go and meet with Salva and tell him that what these generals were reporting was a lie. They were cooking it because they thought that James Hoth didn’t give them something which all of us couldn’t understand or explain. Because it was James Hoth who made Gatwech Puoch chief logistics in Wau…He made Chuol Gakah Director of Malou Military Academy. And yet, family jealousy was there.
Anyways, Gatwech Puoch, after James Hoth left, had been targeting Thomas Duoth Guet because he was eyeing his position. He has been accusing Thomas to Gregory and his friend Gen. Paul Malong that Thomas is supporting the rebels and that he must be removed as Director General of National Security Bureau responsible for external docket. The plan was to have Gatwech promoted to Maj. General so that he would now be assigned to the position of Director General for Naional security since you can’t be in that position with the rank of Brigadier. And this is the position that Thomas Duoth is now holding.
Now, his friend Gregory and Malong put his name on the list of promotions. It is the President himself who struck his name out for two reasons. Gatwech was not among the Generals that are due for promotion or fighting in front lines currently to warrant that. Second, Gatwech does not remember what he did in Khartoum when he was in national security there. He sold every secret of South Sudan to the Government of Sudan. That was why he was paid huge money which he used to purchase his home in Australia and started big businesses in Juba and was promoted by Jalaba as Brig. General even though his mother shell six colleagues were still colonels or Lt colonels. In fact, when South became independent, Gatwech was dismissed from National security. It was James Hoth Mai, who took him back to SPLA to save him from public shame and hence the chance of still being in the army. So, the president didn’t want to put him in place of Thomas Duoth and hence cancellation of his promotion. What would be the reason to promote him now if the place he is supposed to occupy will not be vacant?
Now, Panom, I think you have to understand that politicians and senior military officers always defect because they have a personal issue that forces them to leave, then they will always nicely weave it with the national objective that any layman will find it hard to decipher. After all, it is not about the issue of spying. Otherwise, you already have spies for South Sudan government in your movement long time ago and in the same way the rebels also have their spies within the government here. There is no way you can avoid spies. They are part of any system. No state or military installation can exist without spies in their enemy territory…they would not sleep for one night.
Nyaluak Lual, your explanation is the best than author’s article.
I think some of the rebels supporters are lacking the information for what happen in Juba. Dr. Turabi was jail number of times and he was not killed but the former vice president did not want to flew alone after his coup attempt failed but he kept forcing his Nuers to fights for him any way thank for good and long explanation
Nyaluak Lual.
Your attitudes of writing is beautiful. Its indicates that you may be a man base on your knowledge on issues. But also its indicated that you may be a really woman base on your cool attitudes and beautiful expression in writing. I never read Nuer woman writing before in order to analyze the differences, however, to compare you with almost Nuer men expressively in an article or comments, you totally different.
You got my vote whether you are woman or man. If your expression in writing is the same with verbal speaking, then you could be a President. It seem that you are not traumatized and having angering issues which need anger management, like must of us here.
Nyaluak Lual.
-I don’t know all the things you said are true or not. However if they are true then you are genius in my book. Or if they not trues, doesn’t it matter? its called beautiful lied.
Big SPLM-IO are nearly in BUNKERS at night.
Let them fight their own positions war because High ranking Generals were well protected and were given better access than normal soldiers. Why blaming poor people of South Sudan? They have to sort it out,i don’t think they have being denied by youth, but our people not accept brainwash again.
No matter what, we fight Jalaba because of marginalizing our affairs and positions. I don’t have any problem with any reason which make some body defect be it position, genocide reason or any thing else all will contribute to overthrowing Kiir. Don’t worry about differences in movement, it always happen since every body has his own reason of defecting. Don’t worry Dr.Riek knows every things using Ngundeng Spirit
Panoum you are right what is important at this stage is to scrutinize any defector from the government position into any resistance struggle. But for me most important is the fact that the number of those people defecting are making their announcement in capital cities. A genuine general who do not agree with a dictatorship government will always switch or defect with his force on the ground and stage a resistance while attributing any victory to the new leadership he pays allegiance to. But those city and hotel generals like the Darfurians generals hiding in the hotels in Juba and Kampala should not be entertained.
The leadership can entertain sometimes because of blood relation but be sure it is to the detriment of the struggle.
A’bure
Thanks you brothers and one sister thought some of commence are commercial.
Am very sorry for an ineligible presentation made by regiment sister, although I’m not ready to task her of why innocent have been seriously murdered by drogue President.
In addition I might need her background whether she is a militants before or anxiety of anesthesia which doesn’t insomnia and will go back soon to process rebellion.
The biggest problem of South Sudan is the Nuer Wew/Nuer of money , They only talk nonsense to secure their money , the betray 30,000 nuer who genocides by Kiir, the live cheap lives and submit to become slaves of slaves in their own country. People like pretender who call herself Nyaluak Lual know nothing apart from money. I am taking this chance to condemn them for siding with killer of their people and still fed the world with fabrication and lies to get money . I totally support Mr. Panom opinion given the facts that this Nuer of Wew are more dangerous than Dinka and it should develop as policy to first take them to psychiatric before absorbing them in the community . We cannot continues to treat the Nuer who remain with genocidal regime as true nuer . However we can accept other tribes including Dinkas to join us freely but not the Nuer who chose money from their own people. We cannot allow them to escape to us after knowing that money is not any longer there . I need to tell Nyaluak Lual or the right will be Gordon Buay or Gatkuoth Biem who are tarnishing the image of the Nuer for their money loving characters , We will continue to track this pretender out and his reall name will be soon made known to all . They killed their own people because of money and We pray that they will die while looking for money . Let them soul rest in Hell
Lualmagoak,
I agree 101% that nyaluak lual is not female as she claims. She is no doubt, a pure Nuerwew male Politician of the most dangerous caliber to Nuer Society & S. Sudan – an outcast!
I agree that all defectors should be subjected to subdued vetting before giving them critical high positions in our SPLM IO-Camp.
Anyways, I am of the feeling that any type of defection from the Kirr-Camp is positive – be it good or bad, they legitimize forcefully kicking Salva & Malong out of power. At least in the eyes of international community who have witnessed their chameleon deceptions.
All these defections, prove one and only one thing – SPLM-Juba has rotten to the core and any means of force of “White Army Commandos” is well highly come to shoot’em out of J1 a.s.a.p. – Amen!
The enemy of one’s enemy is some times fit to be a temporary friend.
The disintegration of your enemy also is a big advantage:
http://eyeradio.org/nbgs-parliament-divided-sacking-kuel-aguer/
All roads lead to Rome and the end justifies the means.
Gatwech Puoch’s defection is a bonus to SPLM-IO despite of his alleged dirty past.
Salva Kirr and Malong Awan must go for us to re-correct our footing in the slippery roads of new country building!
SPLM-Juba days count-down has kicked off since March 5th 2015.
Thanks.
