April 25, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Ten people have been killed and scores wounded in a bomb attack in the South Sudan capital, Juba.

Ugandans are feared to have died in the suspected terror attack but by press time, information about the identities of the dead and the injured was still scanty though the incident took place last Saturday.

An unknown assailant lobbed a grenade into a house in Itel Township near Juba Airport at 2am, where some youth were holding a birthday party for one of their colleagues, killing 10 and severely wounding several others.

The motive of the attack was not readily established as police in Juba said they were still investigating the incident.

Mr Peter Ocan, a Ugandan national in Juba told Saturday Monitor by email that they were woken up at night by a loud explosion in the neighbourhood. “The scene at the house owned by a South Sudanese was horrible. It was bloody and some Ugandans are feared among the victims,” Mr Ocan said.

Seven of the youth, all male, died on spot while three others died later at Juba hospital on Sunday.

He said some of the injured people were admitted to Juba Hospital in critical condition.
Uganda Police spokesperson Fred Enanga on Thursday said he had not received information about the Juba attack but promised to check it up. He noted that getting intelligence reports, especially about tragedies involving Ugandans in South Sudan is a huge challenge because it takes long for South Sudan to release information.

“I am still unaware but we shall use our intelligence at the territorial areas to get the information on what happened,” Mr Enanga said.
Efforts to reach minister of State for Foreign Affairs Okello Oryem were futile as he was reported out of the country.

JULIUS OCUNGI
Please you should have better geographical knowledge of your country and its states, therefore Torit is the capital of Eastern Equatorial state, where that incident occurred not Juba as you erroneously reported. You lack good geographical acquaintance of your country,it is a great shame,or to certain extent you could be a foreigner. Try getting story from a reliable source than writing about the place you do not know much about.

Dear Ater,

That’s an excellent feedback to Ocungi on his false news reporting.

What happened in Torit was a grenade blast. A group of area youth were having a house party and in the dead of the night, some unknown person tossed a grenade into the crowd of the youth partying killing some on spot.

Now for those who want some truth, Torit is over 120km East of Juba; it’s not the capital of South Sudan.

It’s unlikely that among the area youth was a Ugandan! Why should the reporter ring an alarm bell when the issue on the ground is quite different?

That’s shoddy journalism which dwells on hearsay. Ocungi must be a failed journalist!
