SPLM/SPLA-IO Warns Against The Use of Propaganda To Derail The Peace Process

April 19th, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- The leadership of the armed opposition, SPLM/SPLA, “regrets the mendacious attitude” taken by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting – Michael Makui Lueth.

Responding to Michael Makuei’s long press statement, Mabior Garang de Mabior, the SPLM/SPLA-IO National Committee Chairperson for Information and Publicity, calls on the people of South Sudan and the world to ignore the Minister’s concocted press statement.

“The SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) would like to set the record straight by informing the people of South Sudan, the region and the world, that the delay of the First Vice President Designate – Dr. Riek Machar Teny-dhuorgon was caused by logistical and administrative issues; rather than political ones.” Mabior said.

“The SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) would like to inform the people of South Sudan, the region and the world, that contrary to the propaganda of the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, the delays in the arrival of the First Vice President Designate was caused by administrative issues of security clearance at Juba International Airport. The security clearance for the plane of the First Vice President Designate was delayed for reasons unbeknownst to the leadership of the SPLM/SPLA (in opposition).”Said Mabior Garang de Mabior

Mabior further stressed the delayed arrival of SPLM/SPLA-IO leadership in Gambella due to security clearances in Gambella for reasons related to latest cross-border conflicts.

“In addition, the Government of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia also delayed security clearances for the security detail of the First Vice President Designate.” Mabior said.

“This is understandable considering the suspicious security situation in the Gambella Region; the clearance has since been issued and the SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the Government of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia in expediting this process.” He continued.

Mabior reiterates the SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) acknowledges tireless efforts of the IGAD (in general) and the Troika, who have also left no stone unturned in their commendable effort to help the people of South Sudan find a lasting peace.

“The SPLM/SPLA (in opposition) is fully committed to the letter and spirit of the ARCISS; and, calls on our partners in peace, to rein in on the enemies of peace in and out of the government.” he said.

SPLM/SPLA-IO accuses the minister, Makuei, of trying to derail the peace process for reasons best known to Salva Kiir’s administration.

“The Movement assures the people of South Sudan the region and the world; that, barring any unforeseen circumstances (“beyond the control of the First Vice President Designate”) – Dr. Riek Machar Teny-dhuorgon shall be in Juba, tomorrow (20/04/2016).” Mabior.

According to Michael Makuei Lueth, Riek Machar refused to return to Juba because he needs anti-tanks, bulletproofs and laser-guided missiles protection to land in Juba.

“he wanted to come with an arsenal of arms, inter alia, anti-tanks, laser-guided missiles and heavy machine guns”. Said Michael Makuei.

Although the SPLM/SPLA-IO is expected to deploy almost 3, 000 troops in Juba, the minister warns that his government will only permit 1,400 troops of SPLA-IO carrying light weapons.

“Thus, it is less by 40 and this is the number expected to arrive in Juba. The JMEC shall approve their armaments accordingly,” Makuei believes.

“The government of the Republic of South Sudan will not accept any additional arms or surplus forces to be brought to Juba.” he said.

The loud minister of information has  opposed many elements of the peace agreement in the past including the number of SPLM/SPLA-IO advanced team, however, the two sides came to agreement on most of those issues against Makuei’s controversial remarks.

Mr.Makuei, why do you worry so much about the coming of Dr. Riek, while you block even reception for his arrival? You know very well that politics is dirty games and in my understanding you and doom prophet Kiir are just armed Juba instead of demilitarized it. You talking of on media alone is kind shaking and paranoid to the concerning citizens leave Dr.Riek alone. You are murderers and at the same time threate to announce your nonsense news, you have so many faces with too much propaganda. You are perpetrator, gossiper who doesn’t care for your crumbling country. Lueth, you had been lunatic human being in South Sudan since outbreak of war with too much lair to maintaining your position from your father Kiir. Please shut up, let Dr.Riek take his time to whom you have been him as prodigal son as well as fugitive in his own country.
