October 14, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— South Sudan armed opposition under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon is prepared to launch a ground attack against government forces in Upper Nile to put to rest the “government’s constant provocative violations” around SPLM/A-IO positions, says SPLA-IO spokesperson Col. William Gatjiath Deng in a press statement he extended to Nyamilepedia news desk.

The statement comes after SPLM/A-IO captured Jalhak town in Renk County of Upper Nile where South Sudan forces attacked the armed opposition.

“The provocation and constant naughtiness from the government side will force SPLA/IO to launch new offensive, and we will be applying all physical retaliations against the government forces all over Upper Nile in order to restore peace and order in the region. Our forces will be remaining in the strategic town of Jalhak to cut off the main supplying route of Paloch oil fields and Renk in the far North,” Col. William Gatjiath emphasized in a statement.

The attack against the SPM/A-IO in Jalhak occurred when Gen. James Ochan Puot Buop, SPLA-IO commander who was moving northward of Jalhak, was attacked by South Sudan army, causing Gen. James Ochan to fight back and captured Jalhak town from the government. According to Col. William Gatjiath, Gen. James Ochan crashed government’s forces, killed 25 of government soldiers and captured a number of vehicles including 5 military pick-up trucks and two war barges mounted with heavy artilleries, all in good condition.

Resumption of war between SPLM/A-IO and South Sudan government is boiling up across South Sudan. There has been military clashes two weeks ago between SPLM/A-IO forces and forces loyal to South Sudan government in Nasir County of Upper Nile State, resulted into bringing down of South Sudan gunship by armed opposition forces in Nasir.
