April 30, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- Chief negotiator of the SPLM/SPLA in Opposition has not resigned as the Movement’s chief negotiator but his role as lead negotiator in IGAD mediated talks has come to an end and his deemed for replacement, James Gatdet Dak, Marcher’s official press secretary has clarified in statement he put out on his Facebook timeline today.

“It is not true that H.E. General Taban Deng Gai, Mining Minister, has resigned from the SPLM-IO as rumoured and circulated on social media. He just feels that his direct role as Chief Negotiator should come to an end and be replaced with another official,” James Gatdet has clarified.

SPLM/A Chief Negotiator 1st Lt. Gen. Taban Deng Gai wrote to SPLM/A-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon in a press statement that he should not continue to lead the team in IGAD mediating talks due to the fact that he would devote his time in establishing his new Ministry in the TGoNU.

The newly formed Transitional Government of National Unity assigned Taban Deng Gai as Minister for Mining on SPLM/A-IO ticket.

“After having been appointed national minister for mining, I would like to devote all my time for the establishment of this new ministry therefore I am presenting my resignation from JMEC and from being chief negotiator of SPLM/SPLA (IO),” Gen. Taban Deng Gai has stated in a signed press statement he released on April 28, 2016.

Gen. Taban’s replacement as chief negotiator of SPLM/A-IO is yet to be made public by the SPLM/A-IO leadership.

Congratulations to General Taban Deng Gai for mining ministry, also alot of thanks goes to Taban Deng Gai for recognizing the fact that He needs to devote his time and energy to difficult task of establishing and running New ministry of mining. It’s to be noted that this is the time an SPLM cadre has to willfully relinquish power for the welfare of one job, again congratulations for setting the precedent to colleagues who are still holding party positions, it’s high for Miss Nunu kumba and Mr Dhieu Mathok the acting Secretary Generals to relinquish those positions to devote their time and energy to task before hand.

The Secret agent is not far from them now and i think most of them need to shut up and do their job or leave before it is too late.

Taban Deng is a great guy but Riek thought he would take him for a ride like others by giving him mining instead of security.
