SPLA-IO Reports New Assaults on Their Positions in Unity State!

April 15, 2106(Nyamilepedia) —– South Sudan’s armed Opposition in Unity State deplores fresh assaults on their Cantonment sites and calls on the peace guarantors to take bold actions on South Sudan government for attacking their positions in Unity State.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia editorial team, Major Weirial Puok Baluang, the Press Secretary in the Office of the Military Governor of Unity State reports that the government troops came out of their trenches in Wangkai and Wuchok, and attacked their positions in Waak, Manlow, Tuarkiel and Budaang payam of Rubkona County.

“This is to inform the IGAD-Plus, AU, JMEC, General public and the whole world that, government forces in Unity state have come out from Wangkai and Wuchok areas of Mayom County which is under their control, and made a substantial attack on our respective cantonment zones in Waak, Manlow, Tuarkiel and some chunks of Budaang payam in Rubkotna County.” Maj. Weirial said.

According to Weirial, the government forces attacked their areas in 2 heavily armed batches in the early morning of Thursday 14, April 2016.

“Meanwhile, the battle is still ongoing as I am reporting this development. Our forces responded the engagement in self defense.” Weirial reports.

“This is a clear violation of the fruitful peace Agreement which is budding with the speedy implementation.” he continued.

Weirial reiterates the commitment of their party, SPLM/SPLA-IO, to observe the Agreement on Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan(ARCISS) and to commit to its implementation in letter and spirit unless otherwise provoked.

“Therefore, We, the state government under Lt. Gen. Ruai Kuol Jal Thor, the governor, and under Lt. Gen. Simon Magwek Gai the Sector Two Commander, would like to assure the world that, we are fully committed to implementing the peace agreement in letter and spirit despite the unscrupulous violations by the government.” Weirial reaffirms.

The spokesman calls on the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) to intervene between the warring parties before the situation deteriorate any further.

“Furthermore, we are instantaneously calling on the JMEC who oversee and monitor the implementation of the peace agreement, to interfere as soon as possible in order to see which party is responsible for the derailment of the only hopeful peace deal that can safeguards the suffering south Sudanese people.” He said.

That’s so evil for the govt to still launch attacks on the SPLA IO strongholds when the peace is at the corner of which is the only hope for the suffering south Sudanese
