March 10, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) under the leadership of former First Vice President Riek Machar claims it has killed 33 government soldiers and captured 2 Indian engineers alive during fighting in Guelguk north on Thursday March 09, 2017 in Adar State, SPLA-IO spokesperson Col. William Gatjiath Deng has said in a press release seen by nyamile news desk.
According to him, the two Indian engineers who were captured alive are identified as Mr. Ambross Edward and Mr. Muggy Vijaya Boopathy, both are working for Juba regime.
“Despite repeated warnings from the SPLA-IO leadership, two Indians engineers namely Mr. Ambross Edward and Mr. Muggy Vijaya Boopathy working for the Juba regime were yesterday Thursday March 09, 2017 captured alive during the fighting between the gallant SPLA-IO forces, and the Juba regime soldiers and their Sudanese rebel allies in and around the new oil site at Guelguk north, Adar,” said Col. William Gatjiath
SPLA-IO forces of division five under the command of Major General Khor Chuol Giet and Cdr Brigadier General Gatbel Kuach have not only disintegrated and defeated South Sudan forces but also killed up to 33 soldiers from combined forces of Juba regime soldiers, JEM and SPLM-North. The enemy is hotly pursued, claims the military spokesperson.
“In the intense fighting that lasted for about an hour, the gallant, brave and courageous SPLA-IO forces of division five (5) under the command of Cdr Major General Khor Chuol Giet and Cdr Brigadier General Gatbel Kuach disintegrated, defeated and killed about thirty three (33) Juba regime soldiers and their JEM and SPLM-North allies, before the rest fled in disarray and were being pursued in different directions,” Gatjiath has stated.
William Gatjiath says Deng Kulang Bie and Mut Gatnor Tut who are government commissioners of Wau and Mogok respectively have been besieged in Wau. Gatjiath claimed that they were repulsed by armed opposition forces under the leadership of Riek Machar after the said commissioners attacked their positions three days ago.
“Meanwhile, the Juba regime contingent under the command of said to be commissioners of Wau and Mogok, Deng Kulang Bie and Mut Gatnor Tut that were repulsed after they attacked SPLA-IO bases in and around Wau and Mogok Counties three (3) days ago are now being surrounded within the confines of Wau without any contact…,” he said.
The armed opposition has not clarified whether the Indian engineers Mr. Ambross Edward and Mr. Muggy Vijaya Boopathy that have been captured alive in war front would be handed over to the government of India or they will be kept as Prisoners of War.
