Tuesday, Sept 15, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The notorious South Sudan’s army chief, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, could be sanctioned today by the world bodies for “continuing war” despite the permanent ceasefire agreement that was recently signed by the principles of the two warring parties.
According to reports from the United Nations, the UN Security Council has until 3pm(GMT) to decide on adding Gen. Malong and his former ally, Gen. Johnson Olony, who re-defected from the regime in April this year.
Olony has joined the armed opposition, SPLM/SPLA, in July and turned his guns against the government he fought for since December 2013.
The forces of the two generals have continued heavy battles along the West Bank of River Nile, near Malakal, in Upper Nile state.
The two sides have continued accusing one another for violating the peace agreement, however, many government officials and supporters fear that the generals, allied to army chief, could topple President Salva Kiir for signing the peace agreement.
Gen. Malong declared in anti-peace campaign in Juba, two weeks before the signing of the peace agreement, that he would rather join the Islamic radicals or AL-Qaeda if a “bad” peace agreement is signed.
The general, who has been implicated in AU reports for recruiting and training militias that was involved in 2013 massacres of Nuer Ethnic group, led a high-level military delegation to Rwanda in a four days visit that toured military installations and facilities last week.
The mission, as insiders revealed to media, was aimed to consolidate military mobilization and support from the region after similar attempts in Kenya and Uganda.
Upon his return to Juba on Saturday, Malong has been absorbed in financial scandals as he reportedly threatens oil companies that include Dar and Nile Petroleum in attempt to secure millions of US dollars to settle what officials believe is a new military deal between Rwanda and Salva Kiir’s government.
Sources from the United Nations indicate that the United States proposed imposing an arms embargo and asset freeze on Gen. Paul Malong and Gen. Johnson Olony, who leads a special division for the main rebel faction, SPLM/SPLA, in Upper Nile.
In other reports, South Sudanese leaders are invited to attend a high-level meeting at the sideline of the UN’s 70th General assembly of heads of states and governments in New York on 29th this month.
President Salva Kiir, however, has delegated his Vice President, James Wani Igga, to attend on his behave.
Government officials cite fear of anti-peace generals, allied to army chief, as the main reason that prevents the president from leaving the country.

Sanctioning is not going to help or change anything unless they close all borders.
Sanctions will put the 3 stooges out of biz so fast. I am talking about Kiiir, Malong & Kuol. Bye bye military careers. Better head to Bar El Gazhal before it’s too late. JCE will use as a escape goat send you to ICC while they watch you squirm.
You should remembered UNMISS Camps across the country because sanction is not the best. Your people have been Hijacked by unknown aliens.
I can’t wait for that day Jaang becomes rebels by the millions. What goes around comes around. AGUMUT, you sound like you want to join SPLM – In Opposition. What’s taking you so long.
To join who and that is Hell no!
AGUMUT, it is obvious you have a thing for unarmed UN residents a those camps. And its one of the reasons your Juba warlords will be sanctioned deservingly.
Eheheheh!!! Who fear who? Kiir fear Malong? Let UNSC sanction this idiot illiterate dinka. Why he went to survey genocide that happen to Rwanda while he made his own history. There is confusion here how can he go for official visit to moblize military support if he is against Kiir
Many of your people walk out to beg for Asylums and our Rural Areas because will join the so-called SPLM-IO to throw government Juba.
I meant our Rural Areas will not join SPLM-IO to over throw Government in Juba never. Your people are going to walk out to seek Asylums which is not good.
You Nuer keep preach war and it does look good far. Just look nuers are looking for protections across the country. When dinka say enough is enough you may see real genocide so stop claimed the genocide that never happen. Malong is a good man.
I agree with you Chol. The real war between nuer and dinka is not yet. the current war is government and rebel. people are not yet in lawliness. let USA continue with is sanction. every dog in south Sudan will perish there. I beg our Uganda friend to evacuate early. let those dogs who say they are aid remain with Ethiopia and Kenya.
correction: I mean the lawlessness guys, like what happened in Libya on Ethiopian.
Chol, Nuers have welcomed the peace agreement in great numbers and communities. Obviously you do not get i to drop a coment like that.
we need peace ,not war everything has its ends.
Stop all hatred words and lets prish peace. no tribe in South Sudan that can stand alone without other 73 tribes of South Sudan. i am happy with Kok reply.
I strongly support the sanctions n Paul Malong for committed genocides against innocence Nuer civilians in 2013 in Juba. Malong has to be held accountable for working against Peace signed by the two principles in August. Jieng will never stood alone even if Malong decided to join ISI or El Gaida.
I’m hereby advising notorious Gen.Paul Malong of not to used devil and terrorist language against US,I’m sure SPLA-IO
is capable to stop him before becoming a terror group in South Sudan.
They ae terrorists not yet listed with a discriptive name for their groups. Jaang terrorists/extemists.
