On 29th August 2016, the Rebuilding Ministries International Torit branch reported that its church properties including a generator have been stolen.
Pastor Luka Odong of Rebuilding Ministries International in Torit said they were praying for God to reveal the criminals and this month the government Security agents recovered the stolen property. He has seen some properties being brought back but some of properties are still missing. “I hope those properties will be recovered also in God’s power,” he said.

Pastor Odong appreciated state authority within Torit Municipality Council under the leadership of Mayor Eddy William for their effort in protecting civilians’ lives and their belongings.
“You know how the government and the church can do, because we are all aiming at peace and security of our people and their properties,” Pastor Odong continued.
The Torit priest said the state security has retrieved most of the stolen items belonging to the church although most of the things such as sound systems are still missing. He said the wanted the state security to call off the search from the area but they insisted to search.
“I trust God that He will bring peace. I hope the government will recover the other missing items that belong to house of the Lord.”
Eddy Mayor said they will continue adding more effort to recover any property stolen from civilians.
“We have all the criminal records, when the security agents go to one of the suspects’ homes , the suspect start shooting at the CIDs and run, he’s later found to be the one who has stolen the church properties when investigated. He hid the stolen items in his sister’s house whereby the security agents arrested the sister because she has allowed the stolen properties to be put in her house, which means she has made a deal with the brother. The suspect and his sister are under police custody for further legal procedures,” said the police officer on duty.
In a related development, the security agents suspected the most wanted criminals in the state and found some of the suspects in Torit town, one of them is identified by name as Ohide, he was jailed.
Security source said the suspects have killed people in Hiyala in Torit East County, like Ohide, he was jailed in Torit prison but escaped from prison.
