Rejected, Youth Attacks Woman With Knife

September 17, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— JUBA – A 25-year-old woman in Mauna trading centre was on Monday allegedly stabbed by a youth for rejecting his love proposal. The accused has been arrested.

An eyewitnesses told the police that the attacker attacked the woman with a knife when she was walking to nearby market with her sister. The accused then fled from the scene on his sooty. The police were informed, and the victim was rushed to Juba teaching hospital.

Stalked; “The family members of the woman said the youth was earlier their tenant but when he started following their daughter, they asked him to vacate. However, despite changing renting houses he continued to stalk their daughter,” said William Ngor police officer.

The victim had even filed a case of molestation against the accused a few months ago. He was arrested and sent to jail but he released on bail.

“The accused was arrested from a market in the locality. The knife used in the crime has also been recovered from him. He has been booked for attempt to murder,” said William.

The accused is identified as 30 years old Amazuru Godfrey, a Ugandan national who operates BodaBoda ‘commercial motor bike).

Police says the accused is charged of attempt to murder under section 208 of the South Sudan penal code act 2008, which states; whoever commits any act with such intention or knowledge and under such circumstances that the act caused death, but such death did not occur, he or she commits the offence of attempted murder, and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or with a fine or with both.

“The accused is under Munuki police station’s custody for further legal procedures,” said William, the police officer.

The officer added that Mauna residential area becomes high spot of criminal activities, and said the police are aware and soon our force will keep on monitoring such criminals.

“We are appealing to local community to cooperate with police so that we together eradicate crimes from our communities,” said Officer William.
