July 28, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The president of the United States of America, Barack H. Obama, has assured the African leaders during his address of the Africa Union on Tuesday that the two warring leaders of South Sudan must reach an agreement by August 17th, 2015.

According to Obama, this conclusion was reached on Monday during his meeting with the IGAD heads of states and governments.

Obama explains that the cost of intransigent would be higher if the two leaders failed to reach an agreement by the agreed dateline.

“Yesterday I met the leaders from this region, we agreed that given the current situation, Mr. Kiir and Mr. Machar must reach an agreement by August 17th, because If they do not, I believe the international community must raise the cost of intransigent.” Obama said.

Obama believes that the South Sudanese leaders consider their personal interests more than the national interests, which leaves millions of South Sudanese people suffering.

“In South Sudan the joy of independent has descended into the spare of violence” Obama said

“Neither Mr. Kiir not Mr. Machar has shown, so far, the interest of sparing their people from the suffering by reaching a political solution” he adds.

The US president reiterates that the independent of South Sudan was a collective effort that involved his administration, the United Nations and the International community.

Obama calls on the African Union to finalize their report of Commission of Inquiry on South Sudan conflict to be used for accountability and justice.

“The world awaits the report of THE AU Commission of Inquiry because accountability for atrocities must be part of any last peace in African’s youngest nation” he said.

Isolation of South Sudan Government:

As a precondition to form a Transitional Government of National Unity [TNoG], the extension of Salva Kiir’s term of office and his government is jeopardized.

The United States, region and the international partners have refused to recognize the extension of Salva Kiir’s term of office and demands that only a transitional government would legitimize it.

Mr. Kiir was not invited on Monday to attend the IGAD heads of states and governments that met Obama in Addis Ababa to discuss South Sudan conflict.

Other controversial African leaders like Robert Mugabe and Omar al Bashir were isolated on Tuesday from attending the AU meeting with Obama.

According to the Compromise Peace Agreement document, only a transitional government of national unity in South Sudan shall legitimize the term of next government for a period of 30 months.

“The term and mandate of the President, the Vice President, and State Governors of the Republic of South Sudan shall be extended for the duration of the Transition Period, until such time that Elections are held, except as provided for in Chapter I, Article 15.1 and 15.2 of this Agreement.” Chapt 1, sect 1.4.

No Body Should Be President For Life.

Obama further explains to the African leaders the important of peaceful transfer of power when the constitutional term of office of an incumbent leader ends.

Although he believes that he is a good president and could win if he runs for a third term, Obama is restricted by the constitution of the United States, and as well believes that the law must be respected by everyone irregardless of one’s position in the hierarchy.

“The law is the law, and no one person is above the law, not even the president” Obama said.

Obama cares of his legacy after leaving the presidency then hanging around presidency and slow down the progress of a nation.

“The point is I don’t understand why people wants to stay so long, especially when they got a lot of money” said Obama.

“When a leader tries to change the rules in the middle of the game just to stay in office it risks stability and strip” he said.

“No body should be a president for life, and your country is better off if you have new blood and new ideas.” He continued.

Although Obama boasts that he is younger than most of African presidents, who some have stayed in power for more than half of his life, he believes that new energy and new insights would be good for his country and encourages the African leaders to peacefully transfer power to new energies when their terms expire.

Too difficult, not too easy to reconcile in peacefully manners and rally behind one leader in the divided communities under president, Saliva Kiir through wishful of tribal domination in the tribalised communities of south Sudan. As people and nation, we can agree on harmonies of our communities, but the sticking points that no one wish to forgive is the massacre of tribal community by the tribal government with the intention of eliminating them in the ancestors land of south Sudan. Those tribal leaders site at the hem of power and to rule at the interim period, so the IGAD’s proposal does go so far to address the route causes of the conflict, offer no remedies and as well, they are soft to Ugandan intervention in the massacre. So, there are rooms to reject the proposal because it will not bring lasting solution to the conflict.

I agree. I can not call a person who killed my father and mother a president. Unless Kiir is script of his presidency there is no peace in south Sudan, even if Obama and IGAD forced peace there shall never be peace in my heart and many millions like me who have lost loved one because Kiir lied and triggered Genocide. If as a Citizen, I kill even one person, Will not be in prison if lucky by now leave alone hanged by the government? Why should we forgive Kiir?

Peace will only prevail unless president and the so call Dinka council of elders were completely muted with no given positions either in their respective states or any ministerial post. The only way that could bring peaceful solution to southern Sudan is to sanction Uganda with no fly zone and a complete cut relationship to the west and the East African countries like Southern Sudan where Museveni got a share of 20% of oil. Let the Juba regime understand or read Obama lip,he mean what he said and I hope the game play by IGAD had come to an end, accountability is at the door frame to those responsible for killing of innocent bloods, I pray justice shall prevail at last.

why do people wary, the report e going to the of the African commission of inquiry is clear, all the jeings are going to the Hague, for me i strongly believe that no south Sudanese blood will perish without being accounted for, according to the report, kirr himself with his tribesman caused all these, not the national army, not the politicians, but kirr has a dirty heart on the people of south Sudan, kirr should not be killed but put to prison so that he can inform the other jenge to repent. as per now we have understood that both Dr Riak and his fellow politicians were pursuing a diplomatic way to let the country be realized a member of the international society with all its foreign policies and reforms to reflect the aspiration of the south Sudanese.
if some one can ask him self, did kirr brought this war in order to make a kingdom in juba? if so why not in bahr El ghazal.
now he has approved for himself another 3yrs term and shall still cause another problem so that he can remain in power as long as his tribe supports him
without justices, some thing which have not ever happen to dinka, so let those who claim to be mediating peace not get it by surprise that dinka does not exist in 3 days only
my advice to the nuer community is that, accept the peace, do-not reject, the payback day will not longer be at the bush, j hope you understand what am saying
there are two options that southerners are looking at 1, wipe out warrap state from south sudan not all the dinkas 1. b, find out the dinka communities who were used in the massacre and wipe them out 2,they should be made beggers and totally isolated, not given time for any arrangement
this have to come to truth inorder to teach communities that think south sudan cannot excist without them

You’re dreaming my friend, there isn’t something that call ICC, our Kiir won internally by defeating the Nuer’s
rebellion and externally by convincing the IGAD and AU to forget about the report. if there will be anything of that nature, then would be a kangaroo’s court set up by African Union, see Dinka is a winner.

Let us assume for a moment that the claim made by President Obama makes sense regarding accountability, why then should we accept the proposed agreement by IGAD which is essentially to keep Mr. Kirr in power who is the principal architect of genocide on the dooms days of December 15 to 18 of 2013? Have all South Sudanese committed genocide such that there is no any other clean leader to lead us during the transitional period? My advise to all South Sudanese is: Don’t accept Kirr as your leader for the transitional government of national unity! Do not buy into the blackmail of IGAD and the international interest groups, otherwise you will regret it. The disease affecting South Sudan is Salva Kirr and his henchmen ; so it should not be allowed to finish all of us. We all need peace but it must be real peace, not deceitful peace!

Dr.Riek Machar will not become the next president of South Sudan because of Hacking. Nuer have to choose between Riek Machar and former Greece FM Yanis Varoufakis. President Kiir was right to removed Riek from government.

Agumut,

If you´re a jieng, I excuse you for making stupid comparisons between Machar and Yanis Vloufakis. What is the commonality between them ? I do not see your logic at all., but as a jieng that should not be surprising either. Machar has many a times insisted that it is not about positions that he is fighting Kiir, but rather about change for a better South Sudan. But here, the jiengs are scared and want the political status-quo and would want to rule even over the dead. That is the issue. With change, things get organized, accountability takes hold, rule of law prevails and development is enhanced. All these, the jiengs want the opposite: anarchy, chaos, corruption, disorder and mess. That perhaps is cultural and explains why in jienge-heartlands we see no reasonable development and human social order.
