April 13, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — According to Capt. Mabior Garang de Mabior, the Opposition Spokesman, SPLM/SPLA is not seeking power to reinstall the former Vice President in his previous position or any other opposition as alleged.

“The SPLM/SPLA assures the public that the Movement is not seeking power for the sake of negotiating Dr. Riek Machar into power, as misleadingly presented by our detractors.” Said Mabior, the Chairperson of National Committee for Information and Public Relations.

Capt. Mabior was responding to clarify the position of SPLM/SPLA [IO] regarding to Power Sharing arrangement under the auspice of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD), which is now expanded to include TROIKA and more African countries.

According to Mabior, the Opposition believes that their position has been distorted by “detractors” in Juba.

The Spokesman warns that such misrepresentation or fabrication could jeopardize the entire peace process if not corrected.

“The SPLM/SPLA felt it prudent to clarify these points in light of the negative propaganda fabricated by our detractors, which the Movement is certain could jeopardize the peace process.” Mabior said.

SPLM/SPLA Demands Amalgamations of Armies

Mabior further clarifies that the armed Opposition is not fighting to establish two separate “national” armies in one country but to amalgamate various armed groups into one national army.

According to the Opposition, South Sudan did not establish a professional national army after its independent in 2011 but instead the former warlords retained their armies under various banners within the SPLA, which was to be recognized as the national army.

“The SPLM/SPLA believes this is necessary, as the Administration of Salva Kiir has failed dismally to transform the former guerilla units into a professional, national, standing army; as is mandated by the Transitional Constitution of the Republic.” Mabior explains.

“This in actual fact means that there is no army, and this has been admitted by the (former) Chief of General Staff, and (current) Minister of Defense of the Salva Kiir Administration.” he added.

The opposition warns that the previous integration mechanism has failed, and should not be re-adopted. Instead the warring parties must temporarily retain separate armies that will be progressively amalgamated into a professional army, which will then represent the country.

“The SPLM/SPLA is in favor of a separation of forces during the interim period; within which the various forces shall be amalgamated and constituted into a professional, national, standing army.” Capt. Mabior continued.

Mabior further explains that the “separation of forces”, which the SPLM/SPLA proposes, does not entail having two national armies in the country.

“The SPLM/SPLLA assures the people of South Sudan and the World at large, that the Movement does not subscribe to the idea of having two national armies for the Republic; however, integration is untenable in light of the fact that there is no national army. The SPLM/SPLA contention is that the peace process provides the best opportunity for the Republic of South Sudan to build a professional, national, standing army from the various armed groups across the country.” Mabior reiterates.

The IO spokesman reiterates that power sharing is necessary for effective implementations of reforms and accountability in the country.

“The Movement is negotiating in Addis Ababa for political and security sector reforms; and for accountability. The contention of the SPLM/SPLA is that the power which shall implement the reforms negotiated with our partners in peace must be shared.” Capt. Mabior concludes.

It become norms in South Sudan ,when dismissed in job you go to the bush, and come back through threat, as new person.. 97% , who are Reik machar ,, dancers were Juba street boys , So now Kiir is preparing big positions, as a bribe and recognition because they killed many Kiir people, To create rebels is short cut to leaderships , After DR; Reik rebels are integrated and big Jobless politicians and streets boys will go to the bush and target Dinkas especially for Kiir to receive them back with positions, Killing Of Dinka innocent life is a ticket to big government positions , to enable education jobless people to feed their polygamous size families . Well, the Son of late founder must understand that, the SPLA IO have murders two Br, generals and one general in Bor and Unity State, is that signed showing anything fairness or they are actually worst than Juba’s government. I have to tell you that, the Juba’s government is not going to accepted two separates armies in small nation that has no funds.

In addition to that, if the rebels were asking only one Month for them to prepare theirs armies and organizes just like the time they were in government, I think the president would be advise to caution for one Month only but demanding for three Months period is not going to be accepted for sure.I think the former vice president is so coward man why fearing that agreement was for Southern Sudanese people themselves and how will you become a leader if you seem to afraid and shying for your life. The late general Paulino Matip Nhial came with 50,000 militias and he accepted immediately integration and there were many others groups of militias did it same thing and there was no problem. Please keep singing about two armies separates for about 90 days but you must know that, Juba’s government and all Political Parties have already rejected such a gimmick Idea by rebels in taking foot-step of the CPA which was signed in Kenya 2005..

Mawien Magol;

You ought to understand something, two separate armies for the period of transitional govt is not a song
Whether you like it or not it must emerge in that manner
If you would have read the upcoming negotiating draft you wouldn’t talk that nasty comment
It is a must that two separate armies stand for awhile and a little bit amalgamation follows.
Why do u cry whenever you hear of the so-called two separate armies?
Anyway Capt.Mabior is right
Believe it or not!

Thanks you Mabior for your elaborated thought the past regime are more illiterate including President who had to resisted such a responsibility.

Our ineligible President should therefore hold a responsibility off why his guards carried the massacring one ethnic tribesmen.
The international community should make amicable decision on this critical situation and the in feted killer regiment will go for accountability where they’re been seriously murdered or sentenced some jeapslous

Juba looters needed to be educated on this point because they fail to understand the policies behind the separation of the armies for a given period.

Agree with Mabior for South Sudan to have professional army that can protect the sovereignty of our young nation rather than SPLA

Mabior Garang,
You can negotiate the best deal in power sharing and institutional arrangements, but if you leave Riek Machar out of power, you will never see peace. You may be made to believe what you have stated, but the reality in the Nuer community of which you are a part now, is that Riek must return to power either by peaceful means or war. Take this from me. When you wake up from the deep sleep that your mother injected you into, you will realize what I am telling you.

Dear sr. Nyaluak Malual you r entitled to your comment that states it clear that Mabior is a part of Nuer community and advising him, his excellency Mabior to get up from what u called deep sleep to clearly reject what he is made to believe to be what we should fight for. We cannot leave u in confusion as u choose. What Mabior is doing now is right for he is fighting for democracy n its subsequential federalism. If u call it fight to bring Dr. Machar to power in Juba, then u already qualify yourelf to be labeled as Kiir’s lackey and sycophant who criticizes our movement and the leader, Dr. Machar for the sake of criticizing both the movement n its leader. If u continue doing that, yrs will be nonsensical n absurd.

Mabior son of late Dr. John Garang and the patriotic citizen who Have Joined the SPLA IO have not mistaken, they really mean it and they understood the culture of leadership being played by Kirr the president of leading massacred in Juba which is under tribal line hence it could take this country no where but the incoming government of man with spirit of leadership and professionalism of democracy could overwhelmingly prompt the young Nation to shine, prosper, capable and being accountable government with knowledge of knowing that country is symbolic due to its citizen not tribe, not government of segregation and discrimination but of human heart and valuing it resources and its economic.
There will be peace in this country whether we like it or not this government will change by what ever mean it will, for the sack and better of this nation.
Thanks Mabior for your sensitive words to informed this citizen for them to know that your not looking for money but for the well being of this Nation and it citizen who have been mislead with Bribery and full of corruption. looting of money from government account how can can you loot money from your pocket is that justice and can it be adapted (75-goverment Officials involve in this, then to where are they going to use this money for the country? wooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very unfortunate.
