Nov 28, 2015 (Nyamilepedia) — The Tiger Faction New Forces (TFNF) has been attacked by the Government using two helicopter gunships in Thoworgwang location of Upper Nile State.

In a Press Statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Brig Gen Otowang Achwang, who claims to represent TFNF in undisclosed base inside South Sudan, said the attack happened early in the morning today, disrupting normal activities of civilians.

“The Tiger Faction New Forces (TFNF) would like to inform that today 28th November, 2015 at 8:00 Am and 2:00 PM Sudan local time, respectively, Government forces attacked our positions in Thoworgwang using two helicopter gunships,” said Otowang.

“Tiger gallant forces defended their positions with courage and valor and gun downed one of the attacking helicopter gunships,” continued Gen Otowang.

The claim of the alleged helicopter that has been brought down is not independently confirmed by Nyamilepedia.

The two warring parties to the conflict signed IGAD-Plus mediated talks on 17th August 2015; cessation of hostilities was also signed but continuously dishonored by both sides in a number of occasions, with IGAD and international community have done very little to stop the bloody attacks and counter attacks.

“President Kiir and his Jieng Council of elders are not interested in the implementation of singed peace agreement but are hell bend to continue war with devastating consequences upon the civil population,” charged heavily worded statement signed by Gen Otowang.

“We are prepared and determined to defend our civil population from Kiir’s dictatorship until the last man. As we write this statement Government forces with the assistant of Sudan’s rebels known as Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) have massed their troops in Omaar (Massabal) area with the intention of carrying further ground attacks on our forces around Wadakon.” He continued.

“The Republic of South Sudan is heading towards Somalization as result of Kiir’s dictatorial tendencies and we therefore call upon IGAD and the United Nations Security Council to exert more pressure on Kiir’s government and to utilize resolution 2206 (2015) which layout ground for targeted sanctions on individuals blocking peace in South Sudan. International Community must stand with the people of South Sudan and it is high time to sent a strong message to Kiir and his administration that there intransigence will not be tolerated any longer.” Otowang said.

Gen. Yoanes Okij led Tiger Faction New Forces (TFNF) into rebellion from the Government’s army in October 2015 in a move he described as resistance to Establishment Order Number 36/2015 that fragmented 10 current states into 28 states.

The creation of 28 states didn’t go down well with indigenous residents of some states who felt that President Salva Kiir awarded his tribe with land from other communities causing fear for more violence among different communities.

The government of South Sudan has increased its air campaign against the armed opposition areas. This week two helicopter gunships bombarded Gariya Bongolo of Western Equatoria and killed 10 civilians and wounded 35 of them.

Similarly, government gunships pounded SPLM-IO’s cantonment position in Mundri County of Western Equatoria which resulted into the death of 10 civilians and wounded 40 other civilians, mostly women and children.

SPLM-IO lost its top commander Brigadier Gen Tito Biel Chuor in Mundri aerial bombardment. Gen Tito Biel is the first high ranking officer in SPLM-IO command to be killed since the war broke out in December 15, 2013.

Neither rebels from SPLM-IO or Tiger Faction have shot down the Ugandan or government of South Sudan Mi-24 combat helicopters.

The wreckage of the Ugandan military helicopter shown above was taken after three of them crashed in mt kenya. They were heading to Somali to fight Al Shabab militants but crashed due to the bad weather.

What the South Sudanese rebels claimed to have shot down were however not helicopters but dragonflies and some ducks. This is why the rebels don’t show the real wreckages of the helicopters that they thought they have shot down so far.
