Driver Held For Raping 17-Year-Old Girl At Parked Bus

August 26, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— JUBA – A 30-year-old bus driver was arrested by Custom Police for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl inside a parked bus, police said on Wednesday. Richard Mili, who ferries passengers on a private mini public transport bus from Custom bus stand to Jebel – Custom road was arrested for sexually assaulting a girl known to him.

The accused lives in a rented accommodation in Rock City area, and hails from Jebel trading center at the bus stage.

Police said that the victim arrived in Jebel stage with some family members from the Nyakuron west residential area to visit the Jebel market here. The accused parked his bus near the shop along the roadside and managed to call the victim inside the bus in the early hours of Wednesday and executed the crime.

“The accused was arrested after he was charged under section 247 of the South Sudan penal code 2008 which says whoever has sexual intercourse or carnal intercourse with another person, against his or her will or without his or her consent, commits the offence of rape, and upon conviction, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not exceeding fourteen years and may also be liable to a fine, Malakia police station,” Jackline Simon Desk crime Investigator told Nyamilepedia.

The suspect is under police custody for further legal procedures while the minor is accompanied by police protection Unit officer to Juba Teaching Hospital for medication examination on rape case plus other diseases examinations.

At this level here, a suspect denies the allegations put forth by the victimized minor, and stressed that he is ready to face justice.

On the other hand, minor’s parents decline to give their views over case to Nyamilepedia , but in physical observation the minor look distressful and her parents also look very upset.
