July 4, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The Chairman, and commander in chief of the armed Opposition, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, appoints Cde Jukino Fidel Nyikayo as the state governor of the newly created Fashoda state.

“Pursuant to 6-12 December 2014 Pagak Conference Resolution, I, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chairman and commander-in-Chief of SPLM/SPLA, hereby appoint Cde Jukino Fidel Nyikayo as the governor of Fashoda state.” Dr. Machar states.

The appointment of the new military governor, Jukino, came immediately after the Agwelek forces declared joining arms with the opposition under Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

On top of their priority, the Agwelek forces, formerly known South Sudan Democratic Forces/Movement, demand their own state with or without federalism in the country; a cause that they have fought for since before the independent of South Sudan.

“We the shilluck community, we are completely desperate and tired of all these problems [land issues] all over the years, we have put everything very clear, whether there is federal or there is no federal, we need our own state” said the newly appointed military governor, Jukino Fidel.

To pave ways for the new resolution, Machar also relieved the former military governor of the state, Cde. Tijwok Hadhir.

Although barely explained, the new resolution is believed to be in line with the merging of the two parties and part of the integration of Agwelek forces into SPLM/SPLA.

The armed opposition, under the former vice president, began engaging and reinforcing the Agwelek forces in Malakal and other parts of Upper Nile state after the formerly government-allied militia felt out with Salva Kiir’s regime in April this year.

The joined forces, who recently claimed the capital of the state and many strategic towns in Upper Nile, including Fashoda or Shilluck kingdom, continue to operate together and threaten closure of the main oil-fields in the country.

The integration of Agwelek forces, who are predominantly Chollo by ethnicity, into SPLM/SPLA forces is seen by senior members of the opposition as part of the healing and reconciliation “at the grassroots” between the bitterly divided Nuer, Dinka and Chollo communities in Upper Nile.

In other reports, the military governor of Sobat State, Maj.Gen. Duer Tut, has appointed Hon. Elijah Awuol Ayie as the deputy military governor, Hon Abil Angau Padiet as the commissioner of Akoka County and Hon. Chuol ngingi Giu as the commissioner of Baliet County.

The new appointees took oath last week before the military governor in presence of his top officials and religious leaders in the state.

Malakal will be national park in the future because the capital of upper Nile already moved to Renk, it’s a good news to upper Nile residents.
