Breaking: At Least Five Civilians Killed and Herds of Cattle Looted in Oil Rich Unity State

May 07, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— A faction of South Sudanese army under the leadership of President Salva Kiir attached Ruok Chiengduot of Rubkotna county in Unity State in search of food.

According to Unity State governor of SPLM/SPLA in Opposition, Lt. Gen. Ruai Kuol Jal, the attack was launched at 10:00Am on May 6, 2016 by a pro-Salva Kiir troop from Mayom county.

“The state Government would like to assure the JMEC and the General public that, heavily armed Government troops came from Mayom County and attacked Ruok ChiengDuot of Rubkotna County, five innocent civilians were killed.” Said the Military governor, Gen. Ruai Kuol.

“It is very miserable for the adversaries of peace to continue attacking and looting susceptible people when peace is already availing in the Country.”he continued.

Kuol accused his counterparts from his Nuer tribe who remained loyal to Salva Kiir for carrying on with the senseless war despite the ongoing efforts to restore hopes and stability in the country.

“It is so vibrant that, the state Government who chose to be disloyal to their suffering people are doing whatever mechanism they could, in order to ruin the ready made agreement because their purpose is to remain in positions so as to enhance themselves.” Governor Kuol said.

The IO general, who is likely to be the Transitional Governor of Unity State, calls on JMEC to end speedily ends the controversies over the 28 states of President Salva Kiir and urges their efforts to monitors peace violations on the ground.

“We in the state level, would like to urge the JMEC and friends of South Sudan to monitor the grounds and speed up resolving the issue of the unitarily creation of 28 skirmish driven states in South Sudan which will turn the country into bloodbath and becomes similar to Somalia and DR Congo.”Said. Lt. Gen. Ruai.

“we are extending our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and urge all the peace partners including JMEC, TROIKA, AU, EU and so forth as well as State SPLM/A-IG to bring those offenders into account to show their pledge to the ongoing peace implementation.”

South Sudan’s oil rich Unity State, and particularly the hometown of Dr. Riek Machar, has witnessed many brutal human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity within the last three years.

Although the United Nations, UNMISS, Human Rights Watch and other NGOs have documented and spoken against such atrocities, there is little hope that the perpetrators would be brought to account.
