Archbishop Condemns Targeted Killings In The Country

October 14, 2016(Nyamilepedia) ——  Kajo-Keji County — JUBA – The Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan has called on citizens to end targeted ethnic killings and hostilities which add to further bloodshed in the country, Archbishop Daniel Deng has said during a farewell ceremony of Bishop Anthony Poggo who is appointed to be advisor to the Anglican Communion Affairs in the United Kingdom.

“Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul demands a complete stop to any form of hostilities which divide God’s people, “quotes Kajo-Keji County Press Secretary, Derick Derickson.

“Archbishop Daniel appeals to both the government and opposition forces to implement the peace agreement,” Derickson said.

In deliberating during the Bishop’s Council, Archbishop Daniel released Bishop Anthony Poggo of Kajo-Keji Diocese on Tuesday to assume new duty as an advisor to the Anglican Communion Affairs in the United Kingdom. Deng advises them to protect the people of South Sudan regardless of their ethnic backgrounds. He describes the legacy of Bishop Poggo as “wise and unforgettable’” Deng said.

Archbishop Deng appoints Vicar General Henry Leju as a Caretaker within ninety days where he shall call for a synod to organize for elections. Archbishop expects the entire members of the Council to emulate his good examples including developments made upon his appointment in 2007.

While Bishop Poggo welcomes his appointment and calls upon Christians to work together in peace for the service of God’s people, Deng urges members of the council to utilize the ninety days to “correctly choose a rightful candidate.

Kajo-Keji County Commissioner Julius Tabule applauds the efforts of the church in pastoral and development activities. “I am pledging government’s continued partnership with the church,” Tabule said.

The Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Kajo-keji, Yei River State, has been appointed as a new advisor to the Archbishop of Canterbury. Bishop Anthony Poggo, who is replacing a retired colleague, will advise Archbishop Justin Welby on Anglican Communion Affairs. Mr Poggo will be based at the Lambeth Palace in London where the communion affairs are administered from.

His appointment was approved by the Arch Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the South Sudan and Sudan, Daniel Deng Bul. “This I believe is also an honor to the ECS and to South Sudan and Sudan, and also as a nation because, this is a very crucial role within the Anglican Communion,” Bishop Pogo told Nyamilepedia Press on Oct.05.2016.
