Feb 11, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– President Salva Kiir Mayardit has on Thursday issued a Decree number 60 appointing his main rival and leader of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement or Army in Opposition (SPLM/A – IO) Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon as the First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, the Decree was read over state-owned South Sudan Television (SSTV).

The Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan signed in August 2015 under auspices of IGAD created First Vice President position for the SPLM/A – IO to be presumably filled by its current leadership in order to safeguard the Transition Government of National Unity that is yet to be formed.

“The appointment is the right direction, but in a way, it was a surprise to me because what I expected was that Juba will first be demilitarized as stipulated in the Agreement, our troops would go in, then I follow and TGoNU would start with my appointment,” says Riek Machar over the BBC interview in reacting to his appointment.

While congratulatory messages are pouring in for Machar on his appointment by Kiir as 1st Vice President of South Sudan, the Presidential Decree appointing him is received by mix reactions from Machar’s camp.

“Dr. Machar has been appointed as first Vice President, no longer designated First VP,” James Mawich Bichok, SPLM – IO Representative in Brazil, writes on his Facebook timeline.

In variation, there are some voices saying President Kiir has done the right thing by appointing Machar in a move viewed as interest in  implementing the Agreement. But others say the opposite arguing that Kiir has no mandate to appoint Machar but to endorse him as the SPLM – IO nominee per terms of the Agreement.

“Kiir has NO authority to appoint Machar as the country’s First VP, ARCISS has created the position for Machar. Given that fact,  Kiir’s quick jump to appointing Machar means cutting corners to the basics of TGoNU such as security arrangement,” argues Gatluak Pal Chuol, SPLM – IO Representative in New Zealand.

Fighting on the ground

In another development, the forces belong to the government have besieged Mundri in Western Equatoria state.

“Government forces are on offensive mission against SPLA – (IO) cantonment site in South Eastern part of Mundri West this morning,” reports Baya Kayidri, the official spokesperson of the SPLM/A=IO in Western Equatoria state.

“They have already arrived in Bari in the Southern part of Mundri West and now advancing towards the SPLA – (IO) cantonment site.”

On Wednesday this week, the SPLA-IO in Western Equatoria state reported to Nyamilepedia that the Government attacked their positions in Meke in Maridi County of Western Equatoria state, killing children under the age of 8 and one captain.

its not the big deal on how Machar was appointed as 1st -Viee president of south-Sudan even if it was not inline with the vision of SPLM/A-IO to hold such a post in south Sudan government, for the suffering of the people in south Sudan Machar can accept,

Hhahahahahahaahaha,

the jenge has waken from their long sleep and term the of our leader Dr. Machar by ARCISS according to the peace agreement as kiir’s decree. You jenge, do you wake from sleep right now?. Dr. Machar was appointed to this position as first VP by ARCISS immediately after the signing of the peace agreement. kiir has to endorse Dr. Machar not to appoint him. This is why we call it an endorsment of our leader to the position of the FIRST VP according to the of 17th august 2015 and full stop. No more beating around the bush.

Follow the term of the peace agreement. Do not start messing up things. No more cow dung in Juba. Make Juba clean of any dirts. Gore hates cow dung.

Failure of judgment at the time in July 2013, to sack his deputy. So back to square one, in reappointment of Dr. Riak Machar as the first V. President , after a senseless war that killed thousands of South Sudanese in the last two years of war. SHAME SHAME INDEED. Who will speak for the dead south Sudanese?

That should not surprised the people because it was already designed by IGAD in the peace process. I hope it is the way forward for the implementation of the peace dealt.

man of the people,

you have asked a good question. the answer is clear. the jenge council of awirin will answer that question when the time for accountability comes. The killers will never Escape this bloody killing. Wait and see. The peace loving people including you, are working very hard to see justice done. This country will never be the same and let those of tolio and beek shut their mouths by saying all the time that jenge are the ones who liberated this country from the Arabs. If they talk of the second liberatin, we are determine to liberate it for the second time and this time from the jenge council of hatred, looter, corruptists and killers.

It’s trivial whether IGAD through ARCISS or President Kiir appointed Riek as the first vice president. There is nothing significant debatable from that.

Formation of unity government is what the nation and the world want to hear and see.

As already known setting up a new transitional government, along with its essential components is behind the schedule. The action which the president took to announce Riek as a first duty deserves appreciation because it has a sense of urgency in it to speed things up in order to avoid over delayment of full implementation of ARCISS. Aside from that,it reassures the public that the government is not dragging its feet to bring peace back to the country and that’s all what matters.

tolio,

I told you no more beating around the bush. the Public side which does not understand that the jenge Council of awirin and the government are dragging their feet to bring Peace should be you and Your jenge tribe. the other side of the Public knows that you do not want Peace but it is forced on you. there are many proves and you know this very well but trying to pretend because there is no any way out.

Listen very carefully. The IO put it very clearly that Dr. Riak will not come to Juba til the city is DEMILITARIZED and also the IO must be in Juba. And this is because Your hands are full of blood and it must be avoided.

Anyway I thank you because you now talk of peace to return though I understand that you come to this term because you now know that the economy is taking you down to your feet and burning your ass to hell. Hhahahahhahahahahaha………………..For us, it is still a long way till we see a true DEMOCRACY and genuine FEDERAL RULE in this country, we will continue to press on With reforms til there is no more dinkacracy in this country. Clear, you idiot…………..where is your Sharp cow horn you want release to me? I told you last time you have already released it back into your ass and it is very hard for you to get it out. Remember, what goes around always comes around.

Incumbents waste no time. You aught to tell Riek Machar and his other members as they are the ones traveling around Africa where IPDs whose peace signed in their favour to return to their homes don’t even live.

Calls that leaders of South Sudan must put the interests of their people first before their owns support that ARCISS was sought for the purpose of vulnerable people like IDPS. It never is for the interest of the SPLM-IO or the government as knuckle heads like you and others think.

The JCE and others whom you assumingly think don’t like the implementation of peace don’t have anything to do with why the unity government isn’t formed yet.

Coming to Juba with 3000 soldiers doesn’t make the capital city a demilitarized place. This demilitarization crap is a filler that doesn’t make sense. You should rather call that demilitarisation someting like counterbalanced troops.

If SPLM-IO has a difficulty bringing those troops to Juba logistically or financially, what makes anyone thinks it is piece of cake to move government forces 25km out of Juba where there are no existing barracks and amenities.

There has never been a good economy in South Sudan for centuries. It is nothing new for those who had fought Khartoum regimes in bushes without paychecks from the SPLM they belong. Bad economy is a stress for those who were used to luxurious living conditions in Khartoum or western countries from which they sought refuge and given asylums but now dwell in South Sudan. People can soldier on with the so-called bad economy for as long as it will take to fix it.

There is always democracy in South Sudan, though it might be not as good as the one you fancy from the west. Any reforms and segregative federalism of which you are a fan will not bring Utopian democratic versions similar to those found in Washington or Downing Street to build you metropolitan cities like New York, London or Paris.

The bulls with sharp horns know me as their master like a bishop knows God as his master. There is no way they will use their horns against me but I do know they will use them against a zoo ass nyinyam like you who dress up in a look alike diapers similar to those whom a father and his two children wear in the film “God Must Be Crazy” that was shot in Southern Africa.
