January 7, 2017(Nyamilepedia) ——South Sudan armed opposition allied to Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition under the leadership of former first vice president Dr. Riek Machar has yesterday killed Gen. Yohanis Okiech in armed confrontation in northern Upper Nile State.

Gen. Yohanis Okiech was deputy chief of general Staff of National Democratic Movement under the leadership of Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin.

Akol’s NDM suffered a huge blow a few days ago when his chief of general staff Lt. Gen. Gabriel Tanginye was killed in Amrah by SPLA-IO in what the SPLA-IO spokesperson described as total harassment by NDM forces in the area.

SPLA-IO military spokesperson Col. William Gatjiath said Gen. Yohanis Okiech’s forces were scattered and following hot pursuit, he was killed along his 27 bodyguards.

“At around 10:30 this morning, SPLA-IO forces under Division One Major General Parom and Brigadier General Diang Latjor pursued and killed Dr Lam Akol Ajawin’s most notorious militia commander General Yohanis Okiech Okic, along with his 27 bodyguards, at Thoroji towards Liri road on South Sudan-Sudan border,” said Gatjiath.

William Gatjiath alleged that SPLA-IO’s Sector One under overall command of Lt Gen Johnson Olony has captured from NDM two military vehicles mounted with 12.7 and 1 Zuu-37, all in good condition.

In his statement seen by Nyamilepedia, Gatjiath stated that their forces captured five (5) NDM fighters and were transferred as PoWs to Sector One GHQs. NDM command is unable to be reached to comment on what has been taking place on the ground.

Lam Akol Ajawin’s National Democratic Movement has been dealt a blow. Okiech and Tang are rotting in some 6ft deep in the earth. Mighty are the splm/a -in -opposition’s fighters. Congrats Salva Kiir and his agents might win a few battles here and there but they will loose the war.. believe me when I say this.
