April 22, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Latest reports from Malakal, the capital of Upper Nile State, alleged that a militia group, formerly allied with Salva Kiir government, has taken control of major parts of Malakal town.

According to Peter Gatbel, who correspondences from Malakal, heavy fighting broke out among the government troops at 8pm last night and continued from approximately 5:45Am this morning.

Gatbel confirms that South Sudan Democratic Movement/Army under the warlord Maj. Gen. Johnson Olony has again defected the government forces, and attacked the Governor’s troops at Hai Jellaba, killing at least 7 soldiers and wounding many others on both sides.

Casualties of the today’s heavy fighting are yet to be confirmed, however, military sources confirmed that the government troops have lost their position at Hai Jellaba and Malakal airstrip.

According to Upper Nile State’s Minister of Information, war has escalated to Wau Shilluck and other parts of Chollo Kingdom as the Chollo dominated militias pursues the government forces on the Eastern Bank of the Nile.

Military sources from Malakal alleged that the Shilluck dominated SSDM/A accuses the State’s Governor, Simon Kun Puoch, of having played a role in the death of SSDM/A Deputy, Maj. Gen. James Obwogo Olew, who was killed in an ambush three weeks ago.

Government sources, however, indicate that the recent fighting is linked to land alienation in which the Chollo people holds responsible the Upper Nile State Governor, Simon Kun, a member of Nuer Ethnic group.

Earlier fighting in the state this month was mainly between the Dinka Padang youth and Chollo youth, however, the two sides accuse each other of having military supports from their generals who have been fighting mostly on one side since December 2013.

Maj. Gen. Olony defected Salva Kiir government after 2010 election but rejoined the government after accepting an amnesty in June 2013.

Despite that Olony’s forces have been integrated into SPLA-Juba forces , the warlord has continued recruiting, mostly children between the age of 12-15 years old, in his home towns in Upper Nile state allegedly to fence off rebellion.

For the last fifteen months Gen. Olony has fought on the government side, mostly in Malakal.  He survives a major gun shot on his neck on 18th Feb, 2014 when the rebels overran the town.

Sources from Juba indicate that the government is holding an emergency meeting to intervene in Upper Nile crisis.

In other reports, within the last two days, two platoons have defected the government troops in Renk County and joined rebel forces  at Amdalwech division.

The defecting troops were received by Brig. Gen. Peter Puok Kong and Brig. Gen. Peter Lim Bol of SPLM/SPLA[IO] at Amdalwech.

When ever thieves have problem in distributing what they looted they usually fight. Let Johnson Olony fight Salva Kiir because he was promised 1.5 Million USD as a compensation for his dead general but later was changes to be SSP. What a big liar

All the cowards Jur & their supporters alike can down play escalating tensions & more news of fresh clashes between themselves in the State Capital of Upper Nile, Malakal but they can not avoid nor deny the existent of ethnic oppression that is the main problem causing more & more confrontations. Let them sort it out and maybe AGUMT, Abuchook, Deng II, & coward Parieno have a solution to offer. The chilluk leaders can do a lot better for their communities than they are currently showing. take 1 David Yaw-Yaw as an example, he amongst the ethnic minority communities is more successful in standing against ethnic oppression of his particular community than all the chulluk kingdom, its intellectuals, Army generals, including the PhD holders like Okuk and many others. So really it not the number or how many PhD holder and how much money one can pocketed on behave of his community but the courage to stand against oppression. Fear is an illusion that exist only in the absent of peace. I wonder of many of our PhD holders are aware of this simple fact.

Dear Readers:
Please can any body help how do you defined the fighting of Lou Nuer sections happened between Chieng majoak and Chieng Tut in Akobo few weeks ago?

To me It was a fighting brothers and sisters fighting for greed and selfish interested individuals among themselves??
Same thing happened in Upper Nile?.

If needed be Those criminals in Upper Nile must be eliminated like what happened to primitive Nuer White Army they know very much very well what the real warriors are not babala babala..then run away from real fighting wow wow wow haaaaaa..
God help them since they know nothing but nothing itself as they think that they are warriors and Almighty fighters.

GOOD LUCK IN UPPER NILE.

It was your stupidity that let you lost your great commander, this govt you’re back siding has already lost legitimacy when it comes to reality?
my question is, how can a person said he had defected govt and returned to that very same situation made you run away from?
That made me proof the quote ” a person who does dull things twice is like a dog that use to run back again to its vomits”
It is better to tight well your socks and flash that fucking govt troops out of Malakal town

Well who does not know. Kiir is the head of Militias group in South Sudan. It is not a long ago that Nuer were murdered in Juba. Did Salva kill not used his militias to murder our brothers and sisters Nuer in Juba?

If Mr Kill did not create militias, the fighting would have not happened in South Sudan. Well, every community in South Sudan should have militias to defend their people. The government creates militias to defend the government. Instead the government would have created Nations army which defend South Sudan, the government created militias to defend the government. Then the civilians are left out to struggle. Any civilian who challenged the government like our brother Isaiah Ding Abraham Chan Awoul, he was mercilessly murdered by Mr kill’s gangs.

Not only that. A mother, a Sister, Former Yei Municipality Mayor Cecillia Oba was mercilessly murdered by Mr kill’s gangs in Juba. Now Shilluk community are mercilessly murdered by the same gangs. So each community in South Sudan must find ways to defend themselves before Mr kill finishes them all. However, General Johnson Oling has to keep his militias to defend his people from gangs in Juba.

Dear Readers and Reporters
Please note that this report lacks facts and real reporting of real news.

In other words Government forces did not lost town or airport as reported but more importantly big army transport planes from Juba are arriving at the airport with extra forces and equipments. Situation is under control and trouble makers are started hunting down by the government forces. Other government forces are arriving near by out posts to help their colleagues and bringing laws and orders to the town.

Also this report is bias and blind by rushed reporting and of course as it Is one side Story.

What is real news according to you. Do you know at the time of writing where governor Simon Kun Puoch is? With Malakal in flames, people like this Abuchook want to continue denying that all is ok and its business as usual.

Reply
Abuchook April 22, 2015 at 5:08 am

Eastern,
of course I know where the state governor is and where he was at the time of the fighting started.

The real news is that these thugs and criminals are not doing any real impact on the government of juba they are just fighting for self promotion and benefits.
Good luck with them and their ass will be kicked and hunting down like ddogs

They should asked Riek and Joseph and Arock about 1991 and 1997 misunderstanding of bad results of too many selfish interested individuals with no visions and goals.

Am really do not understand the so call Shulluk community, why ? because first of all shulluk tribal militia where fighting alongside the government forces, they were supporting Salva Kiir’s government for the good fifteen ( 15 ) months, and what’s wrong today for shulluk tribal militia to fight back the government? So where will they go to at this time ? I think it’s too late for them to join us in the SPLA -IO, because they were the ones who for long the war in the greater upper Nile region. For instance we welcome them in to our movement whenever they have killed the following peoples —!

1- Simon Kun Puoch. The governor of upper Nile state.
2- Johnson Gony Biliu. Sector two commander.
3- Stephen Buay Rolnyang. Division one commander.
plus all the officers who are fighting us in the various frontline.
anyway congratulations to Major General: Johnson Oluony for killing a good number of government forces.

abuchook, how could you call shilluk militias as criminals? do you mean that you do not know what caused this fighting between your shilluk ally militias? was it not the ambush that left m.g. James Olew dead with other 12 soldiers. whom do you blame for that? It seems that you put the blame on shilluk militias. I understand that you blindly support the government. I would like to assure you that this war that claimed the lives of 20,000 innocent Nuer in Juba will not end up simply like 1991 as you put it. Please keep your words til the end. Padiet Gahgah

Reply
GatNor April 22, 2015 at 6:30 pm

Typically the attitude of an oppressor is that the blame goes to the oppressed specially if the culprits are identified as doing the oppressor’s bidding. Unfortunate but it is also the case of Juba massacres by Jaang tribal militia or private guards of kiir the blame seem to be pushed on to the victims. If that is the case then its better to burn down this jungle called South Sudan b4 it becomes a coward Jaang kingdom.

Meaning that spla Oi should not laid heads on their pillows, though they had betrayed us by lining up with criminal forces in liberatiot of malakal twon a mids 2014/18/4 thus, we need to send an immediate reinforcement to mystery shilluk of minor tribe “so, keep on

People dance and march when receiving the news about the trouble things happened in South Sudan, but the reality is that, those who are dying on both sides are sons and daughters of South Sudan.
Let us not cheer for the worse, let cheer for what would bring peace and harmony to South Sudan.
When I heard that someone died or seeing people mourning about the death of their love one, I also mourn with them because we are one family who suppose to work together for the future of our new nation rather than dying for something that we will not get reward after all!! What people of South Sudan will get after this civil war is disappointment and blaming that will last from generations to generation. Let us unite ourselves for peace and forgiveness.
