August 24, 2015 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s veteran Politician and Retired 1st Lieutenant General Alison Manaini Magaya had been pronounced dead in Geneva Switzerland were he was serving as an Ambassador of South Sudan.

“We’ve just got the notification that he has actually passed away this evening,” Said Makol Mawien of Juba foreign ministry.

Alison Magaya was recently appointed as Ambassador to Switzerland and has barely completed 6 month in his new positions.

He is believed to have been suffering from several health complications which had not been made public before according to close family contacts.

Alison is a veteran South Sudanese politicians born in Maridi, Western Equatoria State,.He served in Anyanya 1 during South Sudan’s first liberation war, he then joined the Sudanese government after Addis Ababa peace of 1972 lead by another General Joseph Lagu.

He finished from the Sudan Military Academy in Khartoum and served in several positions in the Sudanese Armed Forces and became one of South Sudan’s most senior military officers in Sudan’s government reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant General in the Armed Forces before the separation of South Sudan from Sudan.

Alison together with Omer El Bashir founded the National Salvation Revolutionary Council which took over power in Sudan in 1989 lead by General Omer Hassen El Bashir to power. They later founded the National Congress Party (NCP) which is Sudan’s current ruling party together, he was believed to be the most senior South Sudanese army officer close to Omer el Bashir in addition to other South Sudanese senior officers.

He served in several positions including as Governor of Equatoria region and also as Sudan’s National Minister of Labour and Public Service until the CPA in 2005 when he switched sides to campaign for South Sudan Referendum then later joined the government of South Sudan and was Appointed the first National Interior Minister of South Sudan after independence in 2011.

The late politician was part of a group of politicians led by Former Vice President Riek Machar who later fell out with President Salva Kiir over issues of corruption, reforms and dictatorship tendencies in the government.

Alison was sacked together with the whole cabinet in 2013 after falling out with president Kiir, but he didn’t join his other colleagues in the rebellion against Salva Kiir’s regime.

He was then appointed as Ambassador to Switzerland early this year.

The late politician came from well known family in Maridi, Western Equatoria. He is survived by a large family which includes several sons and daughters and also his wife who currently resides in Juba.

His body will be flown back to South Sudan from Switzerland for official burial according to sources in the Capital, Juba.

They should blamed him because he had hide illness. Well Off South Sudanese never sport,from Air conditioning to Air conditioning.

Those positions are earmarks to uneducated Nuer’s Retried Generals. They should blamed John Garang and Riek Machar for their mistaken.
