March 24, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- Twenty Two Generals of SPLM/SPLA [IO] Joint Integrated Police Unit landed in Juba airport on Thursday and received on arrival by Gen Taban Deng Gai, SPLM-IO chief negotiator and leader of the advance team, and Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth on behalf of the Government of South Sudan. The Joint Integrated Police of the SPLM-IO is to handle the security and prepare the way for the arrival of their leader Dr. Riek Machar to Juba.
The leader of South Sudan armed opposition Riek Machar is reported, but not confirmed, to arrive in Juba on April 4, 2016 in full formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity. Earlier Machar hints that he would set his foot to Juba unless his 3,000 force composed of military and police unit is transported to Juba.
The SPLM.SPLA in Opposition has been struggling with lack of logistics, making it impossible to transport its military force to Juba to prepare a way for safe return of Machar to Juba. Troika, one of South Sudan peace partners, promised to transport the agreed forces of SPLA-IO to Juba but later put conditions that they will be transported only with their light weapons, a statement that didn’t go down well with SPLA-IO commanding generals.
