Sept 30, 2019(Nyamilepedia) — Latest confidential report extended to Nyamilepedia reveals that the UN Security Council and the African Union Peace and Security Council are making final preps to meet and accompany South Sudan’s First Vice President designate, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, to South Sudan’s capital, Juba, before November, 2019.
Briefing the SPLM/A(IO) political bureau, governors and the deputy chairman, Hon. Henry Odwar, Dr. Machar, confirmed that the UN Security Council will travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia toward the end of October to hold a meeting with the African Union Peace and Security Council on South Sudan Peace Process.
“The UN Security Council will be going to Addis Ababa towards the Third Week of October, 2019 [dates will be communicated later)” Reads part of the statement extended to Nyamilepedia.
Dr. Machar has confirmed that he has been invited by the two powerful bodies [UNSC and AUPSC] to attend the Security Council meeting in Addis Ababa.
“The UN Security Council will have a joint meeting with AU and Security Council in Addis Ababa” Dr. Machar confirms.
“The UN Security Council has requested me to meet with them in Addis Ababa” Dr. Machar continued.
After the meeting in Addis Ababa, the two security bodies will travel to Juba, South Sudan, to deliver a stronger message on the implementation of the R-ARCISS and Machar has been requested to come along.
“The two bodies [UN Security Council and AU Peace and Security Council] have requested me to travel with them to Juba. I have accepted” Dr. Machar said.
It will be the first time the UN Security Council make such a trip to meet with the AU Peace and Security Council in Africa on South Sudan Peace implementation.
The new final push is being led by South Africa, which shall resume the presidency of the UN Security Council this month, October.
The new South African president of the UNSC pledges to focus on the implementation of the R-ARCISS which was signed more than a year ago but continue to lag behinds on many sectors that should have been completed within the past six months from the D-Day.
In 2016 the UNSC, African Union and TROIKA exerted a similar pressure on Dr. Machar, who holds significant influence on peace in South Sudan, however, the world bodies watched in shock when the war resumed a few months later in the capital, Juba.
It is yet to be seen how the region, AU, TROIKA and the international community prepare to ensure that the dark days of 2016, which returned the country to war, do not repeat themselves this time as November 12, 2019 approaches.
