Nov 07, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Democratic Party candidate, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., has been elected the 46th president of the United states of America after winning with 290 electoral college votes against Donald Trump who only got 214 electoral college votes.

Unlike Donald Trump, who lost popular votes to Hillary Clinton in 2016, Joe Biden also defeated Trump with over 4 millions votes after earning the largest number of votes in the U.S. Presidential elction.

Shortly after Biden was projected the winner, the president-elect took to social media to express his gratitude to the people of the United states.

“America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me,” the president elect wrote on twitter.

Biden has been wanting to be the president for nearly 32 years. He ran for the presidency in 1988, which would have made him the youngest president after John F Keddy if he won, but lost.

Joe also tried to run in 2008 presidential elections but lost in primaries to those of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

The president elect, who turns 78 at the end of this month, will become the oldest president when he is inaugurated in January in the midst of the worst public health crisis in 100 years, the deepest economic slump since the 1930s and a national reckoning on racism and police brutality that is still unresolved.

An excited Kamala Harris was seen making a call to Joe Biden telling him, “We did it joe. You are going to be the next president of the United states.”

Kamala Harris will now be the first woman, first African American and first person of Asian descent to serve as vice president.

On the other hand, Donald Trump has vowed to challenge the projected results. His campaign has filed lawsuits in several states to challenge the ballot counts, and signaled plans to demand a recount in at least one key state, Wisconsin.

Trump said that “Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.”

“Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated,” Trump’s statement read.

“The American People are entitled to an honest election: that means counting all legal ballots, and not counting any illegal ballots.”

Biden will assume office in January 2021 as he is expected to be sworn in on January 20th.

Briefing the nation this evening, Joe calls for calm and unity assuring opponents that they are not enemies, and therefore they need to work together.

“It is time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again.” Said the President-elect, Joe Biden.

“And to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies.” He added.

Responding from a golf course, where he received the news while playing golf, Donald Trump threatened that it is not over yet.

He refused to acknowledge the results saying the news network have no authority to declare the winners.
