December 28, 2021 — South Sudan’s Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster, H.E Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, has undergone goiter operation, the VP’s press announced.
In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, the country’s first female vice president has undergone a 4-hour operation to get a goiter removed.
“After suffering for years with a large goiter (a swelling in the thyroid gland /neck, H.E the Vice President underwent a 4-hour operation to have it removed”, the statement of the VP’s press unit reads.
Although Doctors said it was a challenging procedure, they confirmed with confidence that she will make a full recovery, adding that they were encouraged by her resilience.
“Overall, the procedure was successful”, the statement added.
VP Nyandeng applauds and expresses her heartfelt gratitude to those who prayed and stood alongside her during the operation.
“We thank all our friends and family for their prayers, well wishes and warm words of encouragement during this time”,the statement emphasized.
The vice president appreciates the outpouring of love and support, saying she looks forward to welcoming a promising new year, 2022.
