July 25th, 2014 (Nyamilepedia)– Eighteen (18) political parties have endorsed President Salva Kiir and his former deputy Dr. Riek Machar to be part of the proposed interim government.
This was in a communique sent to the IGAD mediation team in Ethiopian capital, Addis- Ababa. The chairperson of the National Democratic Front, James Ancheto, read out the document on behalf of other political parties. He said the political parties call for inclusiveness.
“We maintain that they as the leaders of the warring parties must take charge in leading the transitional government,” said Mr. Ancheto.
“However, we believe that they alone cannot fulfill the mission of the transitional government and hence, the other stakeholders must be included in its formation. We challenge them to prove the current lie.” Ancheto pledges.
Mr. James Ancheto said they have sent the document that represents the views of 18 political parties to IGAD. Two political parties, the SPLM and South Sudan Democratic Forum did not summit their positions on this issue.
The political parties’ forum that comprises of 18 political parties had earlier requested each party to submit a written position to be added to the joint position to resolve the ongoing conflict.
The chairman of the Democratic Forum, Dr. Martin Elia Lomoro, accused some political parties of not presenting their views in the communique.
Dr. Elia believes that some political parties or individuals in the South are visiting aliens from the North.
“Some of them are not registered, some of them are individuals who belong to a party in the north, colluded and submitted the document,” Dr Lomoro claims.
Dr. Elia further noticed some irregularities in the process, saying that the document does not represent the views of political parties as agreed by the parties on 31st December 2013.
“So, when we looked at the document, we noticed that the document did not represent the views of the political parties as they were expressed on the 31st of December 2013, and we noticed that some of those parties that signed the communique actually did not have a chance to read the document.” Dr. Elia clarifies.
“So, they were just swapped in. They were shocked and surprised.” Elia continued.
