March 9, 2020(Nyamilepedia) —Following the hasty appointments and swearing-ins of the five vice Presidents in Juba on 21st February, our senior state citizens have embarked on serious lobbying, appealing to be appointed as governor and deputy governor of Unity State in this Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNu).
Over the last two or so weeks several political lobbyists are frequently seen in and around the premises where each of the vice president is housed in Juba. A few smart lobbyists are using their respective community based organizations to lobby on their behalf.
In fact this is good time to serve in these leadership capacities because there is peace which is a recipe for laying a foundation of growth and development.
However, we understood that few women are coming out to lobby for these lucrative positions in our land. Therefore, we encouraged our women and progressive Youth leaders to come out and expressed their desire to run the affairs of our region, Unity State.
We have since gathered a hope in the presidency for one reason or another, and hence we are sure that they will continue to do well. For this reason, we want many of our members to speak up and ask the unified Leadership to appoint them without hesitation.
Eventually, whoever will win the trust and the confidence of the presidency owes us our support. In other words, we will support whoever is going to be appointed as our next Governor and deputy governor of Unity State. We promised to help in advancing and advocating for all their agenda geared toward realizing the goals of RTGoNU.
Note that this is not a do or die lobby for we can only have one governor at a time. Thus, whoever will not get this rare chance will wait for his or her time; and for us, a serious lobbyist is someone who promised to support his or her colleague that will emerged as next governor and deputy governor.
Having stated that, we request the two principals especially President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar to appoint the next Unity State Governor based on merit, and with a consideration of the regional balance. As we are aware, Unity State consist of 7 sisterly counties minus the Ruweng Administrative Area.
The bottom-line is that we want a development-oriented governor with known characters and potentials to reunite our divided populace, so that we can move our region forward with speed.
Finally, any appointment based on friendship and patronage will be a provocation to the peace-loving residents of Unity State both at home and in the diaspora.
