July 24, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- The SPLM-IO Office of the Representative to the United Nations, under the leadership of the FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny, applauded the AU communiqué that approved its troops to South Sudan to stabilized the situation.
The decision by African Union to deploy intervention third force in Juba will provide security for civilians and create buffer zone between the SPLA-IO and SPLA-IG. By then, the first Vice President Dr. Riek Machar will go back to Juba for implementation of the Agreement on Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (ARCISS) and move the nation forward.
At the same token, I strongly condemn the Crown Hotel resolution orchestrated by disgruntle individuals former SPLM-IO in Juba, Gen. Taban, who has allowed himself to be used by Salva Kiir group, as a tool to divide SPLM-IO, has been removed from the party and he has no legal right as a leader or a member of the SPLM-IO to call any meeting. Any action taken in Juba by him is defunct and does not represents the SPLM-IO led by Dr. Machar.
While Dr. Machar is committed to the implementation of the peace agreement, it is true the recent unrest in the country is another attempt by the SPLM- Salva Kiir to deliberately dismantle the peace agreement by creating an unnecessary split within the SPLM-ranks but they failed. This conspiracy by Gen Taban resonates with President Kiir preemptive plans to assassinate Dr. Riek Machar in a broad daylight. If in deed, eliminated, a pro Kiir within the SPLM-IO would takeover. The ARCISS would be implemented in Salva Kiir and tribal group Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) own terms or else forget about the whole agreement all together since their archenemy, would have been eliminated. God has his own plans. The enemy of peace’s plans to assassinate Machar was foiled. The first Vice President survived, thanks to the intrepid bodyguards who fought the enemy vigorously until the last man. Dr. Machar survived, but was forced out of Juba to create a window for their SPLM-IO preferred replacement, Gen. Taban Deng Gai.
I urge the people of South Sudan and the SPLM-IO supporters to reject any attempt to derail peace agreement. Gen. Taban can joint President Salva Kiir and any time he wishes. He has no legal right to use Kiir’s power to force other leaders to attend meeting against their will. It must be note that the recent move in Juba is directly sponsored by SPLM- IG to intentionally dismantle the peace agreement by first creating an unnecessary schism within the SPLM-IO. The August peace agreement was signed not only to end the two years war in the world’s youngest nation, but for the two leaders to work together to harmonized the nation divided by war and transformed this nascent nation economically, politically, and socially. Any attempt to change the guards within the SPLM-IO is an effort to derail the agreement. We at the SPLM-IO are committed to implementing the peace agreement and will not tolerate any attempt by venal politicians who like to foment violent unrest.
Sincerely Yours,
Miyong G. Kuon
