Oct, 9th 2014 (Nyamilepedia) — According to the latest reports obtained by Nyamilepedia, six Nuer officials who worked for the state government of Upper Nile in Malakal disappeared.
According to Young Lawyer Paul Opio Both Wityian, who is the Chairperson of the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) Chapter in Kampala told Journalists that on 27th, September 2014, John Jok Ruot working for Ministry of Animal Resource and fisheries and Biel Yiech who works for Ministry of local government and four others were reported to have disappeared in Upper Nile State.
Two officials are reported to have disappeared as of 27th September 2014 till date and the likelihood of their death is very high given the irresponsible act shown by Kiir government in Upper Nile state said Wiyian.
Wiyian in an interview with Nyamilepedia Editorial Team says that this is an indication that Kiir government is not at any cost legitimate at this particular period of time.
Wiyian described Kiir government as a government that kills civilians in South Sudan, when two parties are engaging in peace process in Addis-Ababa.
Wiyian believes that four were killed because their corpses were found at RAY ELMISRI and the two other officials have gone missing up to now.
Wiyian reiterates that killing has been going on under the blanket of state of emergency that was issued by Salva Kiir on 21st, January 2014 after the SPLA forces under the control of Dr. Riek Machar captured Malakal and Bor respectively.
On December 15, 2013, tensions between factions loyal to President Salva Kiir, of the Dinka ethnic group, and those aligned with his former Vice President, Riek Machar, of the Nuer ethnic group, began fighting on the streets of Juba, the capital city.
South Sudan’s return to civil war has torn communities apart and left countless thousands dead. As of September 2014, 1.8 million people are still afraid to return to their homes.
Even though humanitarian aid has benefited over 3.1 million people in South Sudan, they estimate that at least 2.2 million are still facing either crisis and emergency levels of food insecurity.
This puts them at just one level under levels during a “famine” or “humanitarian catastrophe.”
