Dec 10, 2016(Nyamilepedia) ——- The office of SPLM IO Deputy Representative to the United Republic of Tanzania would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ethiopian Prime minister H.E Hailemarian Desalegn for calling on his counter-parts to have the IGAD head of states meeting to address issues of peace and stability in the region with South Sudan and Somalia on top of the Agenda. Tanzania mission office welcomes the decision of the IGAD head of states to revive the August peace agreement because it is the only way to ending the suffering of our people and bring about peace, stability and prosperity to our country and people.

I want to inform IGAD, AU, UN, Troika,EU, China and South Sudanese both inside and outside the counttry that any decision to side line Chairman and Commander in Chief of SPLM/A IO H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon from participating in the implementation of the peace agreement will not bring peace to South Sudan. South Sudan problem is not Dr. Riek Machar, it is the tendency of a small clique in Juba to remain in power at all cost at the expense of the suffering masses. The extreme bad governance in Juba with government forces killing, raping, innocent people are some of the reasons.

I want to register my strong disagreement with the government official who said the Transitional government is more harmonious after the Departure of Dr. Riek Machar from Juba. This statement is unfounded and false concocted to mislead South Sudanese and the world. Instead the security and economic conditions become worse after Chairman Dr. Riek Machar Teny was chase away from Juba by anti-peace elements. More people fled the country and suffering increase after SPLM/A IO left Juba. H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon is a peace lover and is on record. He loves the people and the country and he always stand on the side of peace though anti-peace elements always work hard to water down his peaceful efforts to bring lasting peace to the country.

I also disagree with the government argument saying it would be difficult for opposition leaders outside the country to engage in a political dialogue, this is another weak argument to avoid peace and it is intended to sideline and divide Opposition but this strategy is a wishful one and will never divide instead we are getting stronger each an everyday. Was the Comprehensive Peace Agreement Signed in 2005 in Nairobi, Kenya negotiated and signed inside Sudan? It was negotiated and sign outside the country so what the government is saying should be considered irrelevant.

Our policy is clear, we want a country for all where justice, democracy, equality and human rights will be the main pillars. The world should know SPLM/A IO under the wise leadership of H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon is for peace in South Sudan and we call upon you the leaders of IGAD, AU and the wider international community to put pressure on President Kiir to accept genuine peace. We are all South Sudanese, there is no reason for us to kill each other for power and greed. Democratic elections should be the only way to get the Chair of leadership.

Signed
Peter O. Kleto
SPLM/A IO Deputy Representative to the United Republic of Tanzania.
