“I, Lt. Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam, the National Minister of Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development in the Republic of South Sudan, with sound mind and Excellence Rule of Reasoning, do hereby officially resign from the position as being the Minister of Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development in what so call partial Transitional Government of National with effect from 17 February, 2017” Reads part of his resignation letter.

Hon. Duop is the second most senior politician and military general to resign the government this week following resignation of the Deputy Chief of Staff of SPLA, Lt. Gen. Thomas Cirillo Swaka, who resigned last week citing tribal domination and leadership malpractices under Salva Kiir and his Dinka Council of Elders.

Gen. Cirillo boldly explained to President Salva Kiir in his long declaration how the South Sudanese leader, whose term expired in 2015, has disgraced himself and shamed his people, specially the Dinka tribe.

“In the light of the above and in conclusion Your excellency, I would like to tell you frankly and in honesty that in my view, you have disgraced yourself and the office of the President of the Republic; you have disgraced the Dinka people and made them to be hated by their brothers and sisters from other nationalities; and above all you have become a disgrace to our country because you have consciously, willfully, persistently, defying all the sensible advice, and by design failed the people of South Sudan” Reads part of Lt. Gen. Thomas Cirillo’s 5-paged declaration.

Hon. Duop, who has served in previous governments in Jonglei state, has re-declared his allegiance to SPLM/A in Opposition under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar.

“From there I reaffirm my full allegiance and commitment to the SPLM/SPLA-IO under the wise leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chairman and Commander-In-Chief as my selfless commitment before, during and after the failed of assassination attempt on him on July 8th, 2016 in the State House(J1) and the subsequent attacks on SPLM/A-IO forces in July-August forcing the peace lovers to flee to Congo for their safety” Reads part of Gen. Duop’s declaration.

Lt. Gen. Duop was overwhelmingly welcomed on social media by his colleagues including Lt. Gen. James Koang Chuol Ranleey and other senior officials and supporters.

“Cde Duop Lam, Welcome back to your people, we knew you had no intention to join the collapsed peace agreement. You’re kept hostage against your will. We welcome you back with open hearts to the people’s movements under the able leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon. Congratulations!” Said Lt. Gen. CDR, James Koang Chuol.

Lt. Gen. Duop, a former Minister of Law in Jonglei State, was the 4th most senior officer to defect Salva Kiir government on December 19, 2013 and joined. Lt. Gen. James Koang Chuol, Lt. Gen. Peter Gatdet and Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth who fought in various fronts.

Duop declared his defection today in Nairobi, however, he left the Kenyan city due to Kenyan involvement in South Sudan’s conflict.

In other reports, South Sudan conflict continue to intensify in Jonglei, Upper Nile and Central Equatoria states.

According to IRC in Kodok, Upper Nile state, its clinics have received about 800 wounded soldiers and civilians a week for the last few weeks, indicating that many people have been killed or displaced.

The government, which called for a national dialogue less than two months ago, has now intensified military campaigns in all front lines in the country.

Barrack Obama is black and his people are a minority in USA. The whites are majority but he was elected by black, whites and various others as a president. He never had excuses such as there are many white people in this country than his black people. Therefore, he would not be elected. If he thought like that he definitely would have lost presidency. The people of America and God know Obama is not a racist. They knew he had what it takes to lead the country as the president and that’s why he was elected. But here in South Sudan the mentality of some individuals from various tribes is always tribal. Those who have resigned should have thought outside tribalism.
