Press release
By Brigadier General William Gatjiath Deng
Spokesperson for SPLA-IO,
April 11, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —– Following its brutal onslaught on Pajok population in Eastern Equatoria and after carrying out successful ambushes on humanitarian aid movements on Juba-Bor road and elsewhere, the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) regime in Juba has now intensified the distribution of more bullets and ammunitions for Mathiang Anyor government forces to carry out more attacks and commit further vicious and egregious atrocities and human rights abuses against the non-Dinka South Sudanese across South Sudan.
Indeed, on Friday April 07, 2017, the JCE regime in Juba ordered General Paul Malong Awan to personally accompany and oversee the distribution of the bullets and ammunitions to Mathiang Anyor government forces in Lakes, Western and Northern Bahr el Ghazal States. Having instructed of Lakes State to attack and enter Western Equatoria, General Malong proceeded to Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal, where he met the commanders of Mathiang Anyor government forces and ordered them to kill and clear Wau of any remaining non-Dinka; deny those non-Dinka South Sudanese in UN and Church compounds access to any food and water; and to attack and destroy SPLA-IO positions in and around Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal.
No doubt, yesterday April 09, 2017 at around 4:00pm, the Militias Mathiang Anyor government private forces under the command of the notorious coldblooded killer (Nuer Wew) General Thayip Gatluak moved out of Wau to burn down and erase the remaining non-Dinka villages around Wau and to attack SPLA-IO positions in Baggari. However, just as the Militias Mathiang Anyor government private forces were leaving Wau for Baggari, the gallant and brave SPLA-IO forces ambushed them, killing a number of high ranking SPLA-IG officers including Major General Angui (Yak) and Brigadier General Peter Paar Jiek, Major Bol Chut Dhoul who is believed to be the brother of Major General Matur Chut, Governor of Lakes State a longwith other two (2) officers whose name are not being identified by the source.
Also thirty (30) soldiers were found dead with the five (5) officers that make a total of thirty five (35) of government soldiers perished against two (2) SPLA-IO soldiers. Moreover, the three Land Cruisers the slain SPLA-IG-cum-Mathiang Anyor officers were traveling in were also destroyed in the ambush, as some of the residual Mathiang Anyor government forces disintegrated and are being pursued by the gallant SPLA-IO forces in the nearby bushes. Others retreated to Wau where they are currently moving from house to house and killing the defenseless and helpless non-Dinka South Sudanese.
While in the Pajok onslaught the Mathiang Anyor government private militias forces managed to massacre more than two hundred (200) innocent civilians, the current figure in the ongoing retaliatory Wau killing of non-Dinka South Sudanese stands at fifty (50) civilians.
In this regard, the SPLA-IO would like to one more time remind the people of South Sudan, the region, the African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN) and indeed the international community that the JCE regime in Juba is not at all for peace and is 100 percent committed to exterminating non-Dinka South Sudanese, declaring Dinka (who constitutes less than 20% of the total population) as the only recognized citizens of South Sudan, and destabilizing South Sudan neighbors and the region through its displacement and replacement policy.
The SPLA-IO therefore calls upon the South Sudan neighbors, the region, African Union, the United Nations and the international community to once and for all declare the ongoing killings in South Sudan genocide, designate the JCE regime in Juba a terrorist establishment, and treat it as the only one security threat to national, regional and international peace and stability.
