Feb 26, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —– Following intense battles between the South Sudan warring parties, as the government tries to penetrate into rebel strongholds in Lou-Nuer areas, SPLA-IG headquarters in Juba has admitted losing the recent battles around Motot villages on Saturday.
Responding to earlier reports, Brig. Lul Ruai Kong, the spokesman of SPLA in Government and a son of Lou-Nuer, praised the deputy Chief of Staff for Operation, Lt. Gen Malual Ayom Dor, for conducting a successful “infiltration mission” but admits that their troops encountered many challenges.
“The Office of SPLA Spokesperson takes this opportunity to inform our Gallant Forces and the people of South Sudan that Jonglei Operation under the overall Command of Lt. Gen. Malual Ayom Dor had conducted a very successful Infiltration Mission at enemy’s rear in Mototo village” Lul announced.
Although the government is spending billions of dollars on military equipments to fight the war, the SPLA spokesman proudly announced that their troops have successfully captured a satellite Phone and a long ranged radio alongside one Zuu 23 and two 12.7 from the rebels.
“after actionable intelligence indicated presence of stationary air defense weaponry. The mission succeeded in capturing: One Zuu 23, Two 12.7 heavy machine guns, One Long Range Radio and One Satellite Phone (Thuraya)” Lul said.
SPLA Defeated In Motot
In response to SPLA-IO earlier report, Lul admits that their forces lost control of Motot villages.
“it’s totally untrue that we had lost two Wulits (APCs) and that our forces were dislodged from Mototo, Pulchuol and Yuai as reported by some warmongers on the social media.” Lul claims.
“Upon accomplishing their Military Objective, the forces returned to our defensive positions in Yuai.” Lul continued.
According to latest reports from the office of the Acting Governor of Lou-Nuer, Brig. Gen. Koang Rambang Chol, the SPLA-IO defeated SPLA-IG in Motot villages with huge casualties.
The rebels claim to have counted 647 dead bodies of SPLA soldiers in Rup Makeer and Pulchuol alone this morning.
According to SPLA-IO, after the government troops managed to force their way into Pulchuol and overwhelmed a small contingent in the area, the White Army reorganized and fully engaged the loyal troops in a 2-hours of heavy fighting that left many casualties on both sides.
On both sides of the operations, the leading commanders are sons of Lou-Nuer. While the government forces are led by Gen. Majiok Gatluak, the SPLA-IO are led by Gen. Wang Chiok and Gen. Michael Wal Nyak Puk. Other generals on the SPLA-IO side include Gen. Otong Liah and Brig. Gen. Koang Rambang, the acting governor.
The government had made a huge territorial gain in Lou-Nuer in the last two weeks; however, Motot is considered as a deadly front by the Lou-Nuer youth known as “Nyaborjiok” or the White Army. Senior generals including the current Minister of Defense, Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk, sustained multiple shots here in past battles between the SPLA factions in early 1990s. Â Juuk, who was the leading commander of SPLA (Torit faction), was also almost killed and his troops were defeated and pursued up to Panyagoor in Twic East County.
These battles are indications that the warring parties are pursuing war than peace means to end the deadly conflict
More fighting is being reported in the neighboring county and other parts of Upper Nile region.
