Dec 20th, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —– In this date of 20th/12/2017, the Nuer Students Union in Kenya would like to Register their honest and sincere to peace grantors that the peace process being anchored by Inter-governmental Authority on Development, IGAD/TROIKA is mythical by the fact that, some individuals are under illegal detention without any criminal proven records by any legal institutions both locally and internationally. These people disappeared in Kenya‘s capital City Nairobi on 23rd and 24th of January. The missing persons include, Dong Samuel Luak, a former South Sudan Law Society Chairman, Mr. Aggrey Iddri Izbon a senior SPLM/A-IO member, and James Gatdet Dak who were deported earlier in late 2016 under irregular and illegal circumstances. Despite Gatdet’s case is pending, the other two individuals are nowhere to be seen and this is a serious issue that must not be ignored or given any doubts by peace mediators to the conflict. As a student body, we call upon the Human Rights entities to take this matter seriously. Despite the efforts made by Amnesty International based in Kenya, the government of South Sudan has turned a deaf ear and blind eye to this matter. In collective efforts, we address this statement to the Inter-governmental Authority on Development, IGAD/TROIKA and the government of South Sudan under the leadership of President Salva Kiir and his First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai.

The government of South Sudan is in a better position to tell us exactly where these people are and not only that but we also appeal for immediate and unconditional release of these innocent citizens since we really mean peace for the young nation.  In reference to a Report released by Amnesty International on 24th May, 2017, Index number: ARF 65/6298/2017;

“Dong Samuel and Aggrey Idri, disappeared in Kenya and taken to prison facility of National Security Service (NSS) headquarters in Juba, South Sudan on 25th January around midday. They were then removed from this facility on 27th January. The current fate and whereabouts are unknown.”

Nuer Student Union in Kenya congratulates IGAD, TROIKA and all parties to the conflict for their efforts on Peace Revitalization. While urging all parties to the Revitalization forum on South Sudan to leave behind their political interests and work hard to halt five years old civil war that displaced Millions of citizens, killed Hundreds of thousands and destroy almost the whole country‘s infrastructure to the ground.
