Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Sept 22, 2016 (Nyamilepedia) — Speaking to the press on Saturday, September 17, 2016, the Lou Nuer Community chairperson in Ethiopia – Mr. Tut Gon revealed that they didn’t meet the First Vice President during his visit to Ethiopian capital last month.

Tut acknowledged that some of the elements from Lou Nuer who claimed to be board members and pastors met Taban Deng Gai in their own capacity.

Yes I could not deny that some elements from Lou Nuer Community in Addis Ababa didn’t meet Taban Deng Gai. Of course these people met him on their own interest and their own capacity. They neither hold positions nor represent us. As a chairperson, I would publicly announce that those were individuals who seek positions and money. We strongly condemned their illegal begging mechanism and we will further sue them in the court for using the Association’s name.” he said

This statement came as a resolution of Lou Nuer Community emergency meeting that was held in Addis Ababa after the community learn that they were accused of meeting Gen. Taban Deng whom they believed betray them in the struggle to topple Salva Kiir’s regime. The resolutions of the meeting that was held in Addis Ababa highlight their position and support to Dr. Machar. The Secretary General of Lou Nuer Community said that they blame the elements that present themselves as board members to the government of South Sudan. “This is an insane decision from the very few elements who have had used our name to beg money and positions from the genocidal regime. We would like to tell the Lou Nuer Community around the world that we delayed to denounce this because we were trying to bring the community together in order to dismiss such allegation.

Some of the members who attended the meeting and who had chance to be interviewed by the media personnel disclosed that one of the elements among the five bribed was present in the meeting. The respondent who fails to mention his name claimed that four men who hold no titles in the community and one allegedly from abroad possibly from United States switch their allegiance to SPLM-IO of Crown Hotel under Taban Deng Gai. Meanwhile, Pastor Abraham Tuach Kier urged the church leaders to distance themselves from the politics.

In a separate statement, Rev. William Deng Ker whose name resembled one of the names among the listed Lou Nuer officials who were accused of meeting Taban Deng has commented that the name that was circulated on Internet as Rev. William Deng Khan is not his name.

I received many phone calls from all over the world claiming that my name was seen on the list of suspected Lou Nuer officials who met Gen. Taban Deng Gai. That’s not my name and I would like to assure people to differentiate the pastor’s roles from politics. There is great different between Rev. William Deng Khan and Rev. William Deng Ker. I wonder why people fail to differentiate the names,…any rumors that were labeled on me are baseless and frauds to distort my reputation as a pastor.” Rev. William added that he was in Gambella when Gen. Taban came to Addis Ababa. He made this comment when contacted by the media personal online from his residence in Gambella.

South Sudan conflict erupted in December 2013 and the current First Vice President – Gen. Taban Deng Gai was leading the talk as chief negotiator under opposition faction but plotted a coup against his former boss in Crown Hotel in Juba. Machar was targeted in Juba that leads him to fled South Sudan for Congo. Some close aides within Taban’s circle who failed to reveal their names disclose that the July incident in Juba was a planed strategy to eliminate Machar.
